11 NEW INDIE SONGS FROM CURATOR, DUFFSTER
Yeezus wept, put 'em away Kim for crying out loud woman! How good was that Bob Dylan interactive video to "Like A Rolling Stone" this week? Genius & innovative indeed, just think what Kanye and his missus will be doing with this groundbreaking way of making music videos... on second thought, perhaps let's not. This week's new music includes Electric Youth, Hayden Calnin, The Fauns and Gent Mason!
ELECTRIC YOUTH - INNOCENCE
Electric Youth have just dropped their new track from the forthcoming debut album and it's just what we'd expect from real human beings - fantastic synth! They've also signed to LGR in Canada (Crystal Castles, Chromeo) this week along with the release of "Innocence" and I literally can't wait for the album. Excited, much.
THE FAUNS - SEVEN HOURS
Really diggin' the visuals on The Fauns' latest track, "Seven Hours," which is lifted from their sophomore album, Lights, due out next month. Bristol's shoegazers create a sublime wall of noise here, caressed by Alison Garner's vocals.
HAYDEN CALNIN - COWARD
Melbourne's electro folk maestro Hayden Calnin is absolutely killing it with his latest track. The singer/song-writer and producer has taken it up a notch from his (must hear) debut EP with this crisp production on "Coward," his best work thus far and a name to note for 2014.
FRANCIS AND THE LIGHTS - LIKE A DREAM
I just wanna go find a field right now after watching this little video from Francis And The Lights and just toe tap my way through it, just.. for the hell of it. "Like A Dream" is incredibly airy and catchy, pretty much does what it says on the tin.
SAOL ÁLAINN - NOSTROKE
I know almost nothing about this L.A based artist other than he has a track that I've played over & over today. This glitchy electronic debut has been picked up by No Recordings (Sivu, Empress Of). It's a joy on the ear. Let us know in the comments if you can shed some light on this mysterious soul.
MANICANPARTY - BOW THROUGH MY HEART
We're pretty keen on Brooklyn's Manicanparty & their uplifting tribal indie-pop here (read about 'em in our curator section). The duo just uploaded this very expressive video for "Bow Through MY Heart" this week. Have a look - then grab yourself a free download of their brilliant EP.
TYYP - BETTER DAYS
TYYP (Thank You, Yes Please) are a Norwegian indie four piece that instantly reminded me of when I first heard another Scandi' folk/pop band - Of Monsters And Men. Granted it may not be as strong as "Little Talks" was, but there is a nice vibe flowing through TYYP and I reckon they'll see the current five Soundcloud followers implode before long. Check out the remix of "Better Days" by 'Climber' too.
ELIZA AND THE BEAR - IT GETS COLD
We've been onto EATB for while now. They've continued to up their game and build a steady following over the year. This new track, "It Gets Cold," is big, and in spite of its fitting autumnal title, it's actually leaving me feeling pretty fuckin' warm. Damn, this is good.
E X R O Y A L E - GIVE IT UP
There is enough promise in this debut to fill the gaps between their band name. This is the type of synth/pop track that'll have the blogosphere hyped - and with good reason. Let's see what they follow this up with, but for now, props to "Give It Up."
AYER - CIRCLE DOWN (KELJET REMIX)
Speaking of debuts, AYER were noted here last month for their first track "Circle Down" a perfect slice of Electro-Pop. Now the ever productive Dutch duo Keljet have spun the official remix for AYER and it's the freshest remix you'll hear this week.
GENT MASON - HEAD
Gent Mason is another new artist on the radar. The Londoner's progressive R&B has drawn comparisons to SOHN (also share the same manager) and James Blake. Keeping it real without the overly produced norm we see too much of at present, Mason is a breath of fresh air rising from "The Smoke."
See ya next week, Keep it fresh, Keep it Bitcandy, as the saying goes.
