THE FEDERAL EMPIRE - I NEVER LIKED YOUR FRIENDS
There is something boiling underneath the surface of L.A. trio The Federal Empire. When we first heard “I Never Liked Your Friends,” we instantly felt that there was something up with these guys. How could a first single hold key elements required for a catchy “breakthrough” hit? Thanks to Google, we learned that there is way more to them than just sporting ridiculously well groomed beards. We’ll save that story for some other time, for nor now enjoy and ask Santa for more musical productions from The Federal Empire.
ZELLA DAY - MAN ON THE MOON
“Man On The Moon” is a 70’s throwback with harmonica and all, but with a dreamy pop bedroom sound that Zella Day seems to do so well. The word steamy falls short when it comes to describing the essence of this track. I hope that upon you hearing it you find yourself clicking that replay button and have someone to land on when you come off the moon, or have someone make you feel like you’re on the moon.
KIIARA - FEELS (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
“Feels” is a downtempo electro- pop gems about having to saying “fuck it” to overwhelming emotions. As destructive as it may sound, the deep cutting lyrics are expressed in such an elegant bad ass manner that only a few artist can get away with, one of them being Kiiara.
TARRO & ELLEY DUHE - MILLENIUM
Two newly discovered artists that are turning heads and making us keep a close eye on them are producer Tarro and songstress Elley Duhe. Their collaborative single “Millennium” is a powerhouse in synth-pop perfection as it builds from enthralling vocals to a vigorous backdrop that leaves listeners craving for more.
NOAH CYRUS - MAKE ME (CRY) FT. LABRINTH
Who would have ever thought that pretty boy Billy Ray Cyrus would shoot out more than one vocal force into the world. Yes, readers, the Cyrus blood runs deep in one of Today’s featured artists. Noah Cyrus, Miley's lil' sister has a great voice ofc and it’s clear that this is just the beginning of a huge career in singing, acting, public offenses, etc. But for now, we absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!
TROYE SIVAN - YOUTH (ACOUSTIC)
The perfect track to help you unwind today, Troye Sivan delivers a stunning stripped down acoustic version of one of 2016’s top songs and ARIA winner. “Youth” is simply a gorgeous piece of art, it’s an intimate take on a very high acclaimed song.
As always, we thank you for stopping by and checking out what’s new on the the Best of Indie Pop charts. We’ll see you next week with more undiscovered gems.
About Beca Arredondo
Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
