Best Chill Out Music - Week 44 2013

11/1/13
Best of Indie Chill

If you're hanging on alcohol or crashing on sugar after Halloween last night, then pop a sickie, and have a listen to this week's best chill out music! Thanks to the Curators who helped me with today's picks from Indiana, Sebastian Teller, Yagya and even more. If you think you've got what it takes to contribute to our weekly roundups, then go and sign up to be a Curator! (Artwork by Beth Parnaby.)

INDIANA - ANIMAL

Haha, this top YouTube comment made me laugh: “Blazed out my face, this song brings me peace.” Queen Liz was also “blazed out her face” the time Indiana and The Script performed for her in June.

KODA - STAYING

Calvin recently named “Staying” by Koda as his “official song to listen to after a shit day.” If you're a fan of Bon Iver or Perfume Genius, check it out. Thanks to Curator Duffster for this ace discovery.

COLDPLAY - YELLOW (JEROME LOL COVER)

Firstly, Jerome LOL seems like a dickhead, but maybe that's the point, as you're either going to love or hate this version of “Yellow.” Look at it this way, it's more interesting than the original, whatever.

SEBASTIAN TELLIER - COCO

Things go all ying yang, feng shui and shit like that on Mr. Tellier's upcoming album, Confection, at least if the stunning instrumental, “Coco,” is anything to go by. I do like me a flamenco guitar, guys.

GERMANY GERMANY - VISIONS

Not that I stalk him everyday, but G.G. recently posted this: “I've been making something for a long time, I think it could be really special.” It sounds like “Visions” is forming part of that “something.”

BASECAMP - EMMANUEL (HAYDEN JAMES REMIX)

Sydney producer, Hayden James, is far too tall, dark and handsome for his own good. In other news, enjoy a free download of this legitimately epic reworking of Basecamp's debut single, “Emmanuel.”

YAGYA - COCONUT RICE

“Coconut Rice” originally featured on the Intelligent Toys compilation, as curated by the Lithuanian label, Sutemos. The Icelandic producer, Yagya, has since remastered the intense slice of dub techno.

GOODBYE CHANEL - WILDE

Leeds, England isn't the first place that springs to mind at the mention of dream pop, but that doesn't mean Goodbye Chanel aren't completely luscious. Listen to Through Night To Paradise in full, here.

RAY PARKER JNR  - GHOSTBUSTERS (UMA COVER)

Thanks to the man, and legend, Curator Duffster, for turning me on to the German experimental pop duo, Uma's eerie and unnerving cover of Ray Parker Jr's “Ghostbusters,” just in time for Halloween.

That's it for this week's best chill out music, everybody! I'm back Friday for even more. If you think you've got what it takes to contribute to our weekly roundups, then why not sign up to be a Curator?

I suggest we form a calming circle.
