BEST DANCE MUSIC - WEEK 5 2015
Welcome back to BitCandy’s Best of EDM and Electro, your favorite corner of the internet! We like to take the massively wide spectrum of all electronic music out there and cull it down to only the tip top shit. I hope you guys are ready to have your ears blown off and your mind erased, 'cause this is probably the best music you’ve ever heard. Or not, maybe you have better songs? Well then leave 'em in the comments and we’ll become more educated and the whole world will be a better place because we helped each other out.
We’ve got new tracks from Martin Solveig & GTA, Mord Fustang SNBRN AND BOYS NOIZE ACID SHIT! YEE!!
MARTIN SOLVEIG & GTA - INTOXICATED
Martin Solveig has been missing from dance music for a year or two. But he returns, teaming up with GTA to make a groovy future house tune that’s more fun than 90% of the stuff out there. Martin’s the king of vocal hooks and I’m glad to have his silliness back in the mix. The video doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it’s not like that would even be possible with Martin’s new mustache.
GALANTIS - RUNAWAY (U&I)
Nobody ever said that Galantis didn’t make super weird videos. They are beautiful and strange and all follow one vaguely singular narrative. Let’s keep going on the adventure of the Seafox, huh? Doesn’t matter too much really, 'cause the music stands so highly on its own.
TIGA - BUGATTI (BOYS NOIZE ACID REMIX)
Girl comes up to me and says… Acid. Just when I thought we’d said goodbye to Tiga’s Bugatti, Boys Noize comes in and knocks it out of the fucking ballpark, bringing back his dark heavy techno acid sounds. Thank Christ Boys Noize got weird again. 2015 is gonna be a weird year. :) ACID.
OLIVER - LIGHT YEARS AWAY
Oliver are the kings of Funky Space disco and this track should have skyrocketed them into superstardom. I know we’ve already featured this track but honestly we don’t care. It’s so good. We’re gonna feature it every six months on repeat like clockwork until it gets the credit of mastery it deserves.
MAZTEK - BADLICIOUS
Sometimes I feel like my editor and I are the only two dudes in LA who like Drum & Bass. He always gives me the best drum & bass tracks to listen to. And then I go home and play them for my friends and they’re like, “this is stupid. This isn’t house music.” Italian Drum & Bass producer Maztek hits us with a whole unique style of slowed down drum & bass with fun, jump up breaks.
BASEMENT JAXX - TAIKO JUNTOS
Basement Jaxx released their club friendly album, Junto, this year and it was such a beautiful departure from their normal sounds. These weren’t songs meant to be played live, these were songs meant to be DJed. The British Legends had evolved, and got all the stronger for it. Taiko Juntos comes from the Junto Club Bonus Tracks EP. Just 'cause it wasn’t good enough to make an album cut doesn’t mean it’s not worth releasing. It’s a rad as hell African Tribal party and I’m glad we get to hear it.
MORD FUSTANG - MILKY WAY (PT. 2)
Cleverly edited vocal samples, weird rhythmic beats, insane dubstep wobbles. This track feels like I’m back in 2011 in all the best ways. Music was simpler, Obama was President, Mord Fustang was making music. Wait. Shit. Are we back????
SNBRN - RAINDROPS FT. KERLI
SNBRN with his new brand of “sunset house” has been crushing every indie dance club house night in LA. Such a unique sound/brand but the full know-how of production. After a bunch of remixes and edits, "Raindrops" is the first original track we’ve heard from SNBRN. And unlike Kygo, this one actually delivers.
OLIVER HELDENS FT. KSTEWART - LAST ALL NIGHT (KOALA) (KELJET REMIX)
I think it’s rad that Oliver Heldens is picking unique small artists to remix his tracks and not just Tiesto and Nicky Romero. Kelt nearly strips out Oliver’s incredibly unique bass, focusing on garage drums and funky synths. I’m gonna start digging on these Keljet dudes.
GINA TURNER B2B LAIDBACK LUKE HOLY SHIP MIX
Husband and Wife Gina Turner and Laidback Luke went B2B on Holy Ship and it's the deepest funkiest set I've ever heard from either of them w/ hints of bomb hip-hop popping up here and there. Somehow I get the sneaking suspicion this is what LBL plays when he's home and not playing mainstages ERRYWHERE. Maybe we should all wish for the EDM apocalypse so we get more sets like this.
Thanks for reading! If you are all good boys and boys maybe you’ll get a couple more tracks mid-week!
About Kurt Kroeber
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
