What up, Rave fans? Let's party another week in the party verse? How can we do that? All we have is the interconnected systems of 0’s and 1’s?? DUH, that’s what the Internet is for? We meet on chatrooms and websites and bitcandys and have giant virtual dance parties every week. Well, let me be your selector for the week (hardly a DJ… I’m not mixing shit). But that shan’t prevent us from having the best time on the internet that people can have not actually interacting with each other in any way shape or form and instead just listening to songs embedded on a webpage. SWEET!

Sweet new sweetness from Bixel Boys, Loadstar, Caspa & Rusko, and Basement Freaks. OOH BOY!

BIXEL BOYS & POUPON - AIN'T YOUR GIRL

The Bixel Boys are back with their first song in a very long while, and oh man, is it worth the wait. Their dark house compounded with Poupon’s chill as fuck vocals is classic Bixels out of the gate. The warring Asian countries in this dance off make one of the creepiest dance offs I’ve ever seen, but I guess that harkens to the Bixels Boys' dark sound. Sure you can dance, but it better be to something weird.

BLASTERJAXX & DBSTF - PARNASSIA

How on point this music video is with a Donald Trump haired candidate named Mr. Dump tripping and falling and it turning into a giant nightmare for the candidate? It’s strange and Point Break inspired, and totally worth a watch (even on mute) just for a fun time at the movies. That being said, this song is pretty fun too for big room electro. It’s certainly the most interesting song I’ve heard from Blasterjaxx in my…ever.

HAEZER - YOU FEEL ME FT. BORN I MUSIC

Hazer is following up releases with Black Tiger Sex Machine and SBCR with You Feel Me. This Cape Town producer is definitely the new hotness with artists like that vouching for him. This is a hard hitting dark electro track with a damn fresh flow on top. It’s like Born I Music keeps going and going like the Energizer Bunny of hip-hop or some shit. His flow is so unique and new. I love it. I’ve very interested to hear more from both of the artists involved here.

BOY KISS GIRL - OCEAN (RADIO EDIT)

Another acoustic guitar riddled catchy vocal groove from Boy Kiss Girl. Every track from this guy is a melodic gem and this radio edit of Ocean is certainly destined for more greatness. It’s awesome, like acoustic tropical house or something— logical place for it to go next.

HUDSON MOHAWKE - VERY FIRST BREATH FT. ORPHAN (NICKY BOY REMIX)

Can’t say this is fresh to death, but also can’t say it’s not dope as hell. Sure, we’ve heard this future bass/trap sound one hundred times (exactly), but here Nicky Boy does really good work with the sounds he has.  His basslines are heavy acid sounds while being surprisingly minimal. There are fresh ideas here, and that’s really all you can ask for in 2016.

BASEMENT FREAKS - WHITE HOT (FEAT. KYLIE AULDIST)

Basement Freaks are one of the lords of the new funk movement. Here they combine funk, electro and boogie wonderland shit. Kylie Auldist’s vocals (of the New Zealand act The Bamboos) helps turn this into quite the disco heater. This would have hit in the 70’s FOR SURE. Good thing we live in now and get the electrofunk version. They say it right— “funkier than James Brown’s armpit.” That makes for MIGHTY funky.

LOADSTAR - LIFELINE

Loadstar is one of the best jump-up Drum & Bass producers out there. He’s relatively new to RAM records roster but every track he comes out with his absolutely massive. Here he combines beautiful Celine Dion-esque vocals with some supremely rad speed drum & bass. This is fast and fun, just like sex should be.

CASPA & RUSKO - BLOUSE AN SKIRT

Ah back to the ORIGINAL dubstep sounds. You know, before Caspa & Rusko invented bro-step and changed the game for everyone. After hearing this dub jam I have a feeling I would have liked 2009-2010 dubstep a lot more than the heavy BASS WOMP BASS STOMP stuff that’s been around for the past 5-6 years. Oh well! That’s why we get this now! 'Cause everything is cyclical!

HEALTH - LIFE (PURITY RING REMIX)

Oh man oh man. This right here is two of the least heralded voices in dance music combining forces to make a dark, heavy industrial electro tune. This is dream-haunting shit from two acts I absolutely adore. Adding Purity Ring’s vocals and giving remix duties is an inspired choice from Health. These dudes are probably our modern age Nine Inch Nails and no one is even talking about it. This is a special kind of collaboration.

D.O.D. - PULL UP

D.O.D. put together a reel of nightmare footage, explosions and static to complement their absolutely massive rave tune. This is a vicious banger that’s supposed to make the angry kids jump up and stomp on their friends until their friends are dead from raging as hard as they finally claimed they could.

I KNOW WHEN THAT HOTLINE BLING!

About Kurt Kroeber

From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
