BEST ELECTRO MUSIC - WEEK 7 2015
What's up, party people!? BitCandy here with your weekly dose of the best dance music EDM bangers this side of the Mississippi! I'm on my way back from the Gem&Jam Festival in Tucson, AZ which is the headiest hippie electronic festival I've ever come across. Don't fret children, I won't post any of that music here. Just quality dance music tracks... Nothing TOO weird. I love you all. I don't want to put you through this.
We've got great new tracks and vids from Skrillex, Seven Lions, Big G and the Bloody Beetroots. See, I take care of you.
ZEDS DEAD & OLIVER HELDENS - YOU KNOW
Everybody and their brother wants to work with Oliver Heldens. Doesn't even matter if you don't really add anything at all of your own sound palate to track, huh Zeds Dead? I wrote about this track last week but now there's an incredibly generic video to go along with it! Yay!
SKRILLEX - DOOMPY POOMP
Skrillex releasing his best / weirdest track on his Recess LP as a Groundhog Day but trippier music video and it's absolutely incredible. The video heightens the song and the song heightens the video. This is one of those rare occurances like Thriller where you're just going to have to consume the complete piece of art.
WOLFGANG GARTNER - UNHOLY FEAT. BOBBY SAINT (COBRA EFFECT REMIX)
Poor Wolfgang Gartner and his health issues, preventing him from touring this year-- but props to the Kindergarten records boss man for still giving us releases to tide us over in the meantime. Wolfie's original
mix of this track is the man trying to go deep, but it's nice to see his label sticking to the electro roots w/ this bomb electro remix from Cobra Effect.
SBCR - MGMT VS DB BOULEVARD POINT OF VIEW 2009
So now Bob Rifo of the Bloody Beetroots is touring as SBCR (Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo) and doing only DJ sets. Goodbye the punrock attitude of Beetroots, hello deep funk. I am in line with this MGMT DB Boulevard edit remix mashup I have no idea what. Not that it even matters or anything.
KDREW - TONIGHT (VIP REMIX)
KDrew trying to fill in the hole left by Swedish House Mafia collaborating with Knife Party (this ain't no Antidote). Take little parts of each and throw them into a puddle together and see what sticks. Progressive Electro for the kids!
SEVEN LIONS - LOSE MYSELF FT. LYNN GUNN
Seven Lions is truly the king of huge souding emotional dubstep. With Lynn Gunn vocals that sound somewhere between Rihanna and Krewella, I can only imagine this track is going to be an absolute monster in 2015. Seven Lions keeps climbing and climbing.
BEN HOWARD - I FORGET WHERE WE WERE (BOEHM REMIX X GEORGET OGILVIE COVER)
Mad chill vibes. A little country EDM, a little tropical house, a little indie dance all mashed up into one nice lil tune. Can't go wrong with this one if you ever have any chilling in your near future. And I hope for your case, you do!!
SAMEBLOD - FLOURISH
This is some radddd new indie dance. Funky dance vibes for anyone who likes to dance but is afraid of dance music and wants it in a more hook filled, synth based form. Or you know, anyone who just likes cool songs.
BIG GIGANTIC - GET ON UP
Hung out with some BIG Big Gigantic fans this weekend and Get on Up was the talk of the town. We all agreed that for the once Kings, this song is pretty goddamn tepid. Dom's funky sax hook at the beginning is catchy as hell but then two minutes in it turns trappy and we're all left scratching our heads why. Please don't get too big for your britches guys, we thought you were better than that.
SHAUN FRANK - JONEZIN'
Some funky catchy hooky deep house that's got a lil Oliver Heldens and a lil Disclosure and a whole lot of love from the BitCandy team. Pay attention to this to one! Stop not paying attention. For real! Listen now! Big Funky fun! Are you paying attention yet?
MAKO - GHOSTS
Are Mako the best at Prog House in the universe? Sorta starting to believe that it's a very realistic possibility. Please chime in with your opinion in the comments!
Thanks for reading! I love you like a brother loves a brother! See U next week!
About Kurt Kroeber
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
