BEST OF INDIE POP - WEEK 19 2014
Oooooooohhh eeeee. Do you feel that breeze? A bit of a draft down below. Oh, hey all, Rihanna's butt crack here representing BitCandy as this week’s guest host for the top indie pop songs of the week. Obviously this ain’t my list, cuz if it were it would be full of videos of me and my girl Katy Perry’s cleavage poppin bottles. But being that I never say no to anything, especially if I’m being paid with a lifetime supply of exclusive bathroom tissue, here you have me for the next 15 minutes or so. Perk them butts of yours and get your cameras ready. I’m gonna want a #Selfie of you shaking it to the tracks below.
PHARRELL WILLIAMS - MARILYN MONROE [OFFICIAL VIDEO]
Future Pepsi commercial? Perhaps. Homeboy Pharrell creates a flawless video for my favorite song off his latest album, Girls. The only thing he could have done better was to have less clothing and more butt cracks. Can I just say something here: Only you can prevent forest fires. Random I know, anyone else hungry for some Arby’s?
MICHAEL JACKSON - LOVE NEVER FELT SO GOOD
An old school track that was recorded 31 years ago. For one reason or another it was not released back in the day. Perhaps pop-sters back then weren't ready for such awesomeness from the king.
BROOKE CANDY - OPULENCE
Shiiit, and I thought my RiRi was a mess. No no honey Brooke Candy takes the crown. Take note: To stand out one must do what hasn’t been done. Wait...this has been done i.e. RiRi, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Brit Brit, insert fame whore here_______.
ESTER DEAN - GET MY DOUGH
Ester Dean is downright fabulous. She’s the mastermind behind some of the power pop hits on the radio these days. Get My Dough was originally intended for Miley, but her ass rejected it and instead of filing away this hit, Ester brought it to life.
BANKS - GODDESS
Banks continues to enchant us with hypnotizing arrangements. She’s the kind of artist that will not have a short shelf life.
MAUSI - MY FRIEND HAS A SWIMMING POOL
London’s Mausi returns with more feel good energy. All this talk about swimming pools makes me want to jump in naked. You bring the drinks, I’ll provide the pool.
MONARCHY - LIVING WITHOUT YOU
Lazer lights and beams, yes that is all these fellas need for the perfect video. Oh, and a smoke machine. I could get lost in this sound for hours. Side note, here’s a random fact for you: Monarchy was first band to be broadcast live into space. Far out, man!
FRIDA SUNDEMO - NEON
Sounding like a princess from space, Frida proves to be one of BitCandy’s favorite discoveries this week. Safe to say this is indie pop perfection.
GALANTIS - YOU (BRILLZ REMIX)
Hells ya! This is something I can get down to. Brillz strikes on another goldmine. If he keeps this up Imma ask him to remix one of my tracks. I need someone who understands how to make something sound irresistibly dirty.
PHARRELL - HAPPY (ST∆RC∆DI∆N REMIX)
I could care less for "Happy." Been played one too many times for me. But I guess if I must listen to it one more time I’d opt for the darker version courtesy of ST∆RC∆DI∆N.
Thanks for having me curate this week’s pop songs. I’ll catch you bitches later. Gotta run, Instagram awaits my return.
About Beca Arredondo
Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
