I know most of you are just about ready to start up the grill and pop open a cold one, but before you get to celebrating the one day you can get away with lighting up some fireworks without the cops showing up at your door let’s dive into some indie pop songs perfect for today’s activities. We’ve handpicked the freshest indie pop tracks for ya featuring MNEK, Amilli, XYLØ , and more.

MNEK - COLOUR FT HAILEE STEINFELD

“When we’re together everything's better,” sings London crooner MNEK in his single “Colour.” For this piece, he pairs up with pop singer Hailee Steinfeld and together they make love seem brighter and more colorful than a rainbow. You may not have felt the kind of love MNEK sings about, but one thing you will feel is the banging beat that will make you want to get up and dance.

LOOTE - WISH I NEVER MET YOU

This post is all over the place, first with a song of how amazing love feels followed up with a track of wishing the person you once loved never existed in your life. Anyways, what is so great about Loote’s “Wish I Never Met You” is that it doesn’t feel like pitty me song, rather it feels like a victory song. It’s as if we’re stronger and better now thanks to your no good sorry face.

ELOHIM FEAT YOSHI FLOWER - PANIC ATTACK (DENM REMIX)

Our boy DENM takes Elohim’s painfully beautiful single “Panic Attack” and drenches it with an uplifting dance beat that brings upon a layer of surrealness leaving you in expectation of brighter skies and better things to come.

BRASKO - TMYLM

It’s not always necessary to have someone tell you they love you, but sometimes you just gotta here it. So next time you’re feeling vulnerable and in need of hearing those three little words blast BRASKO’s “TYLM” and hopefully your SO will get the point. But in case they don’t get the clue, don’t you worry because there are plenty of other hearts to conquer on the dance floor.

THE KNOCKS - SHADES

New York funk pop duo The Knocks have the solution to our everyday problems. Rip a page out of their book and throw on your favorite pair of shades because you’re the best and don’t you forget. Now let’s get funky!

CHARLI XCX - 5 IN THE MORNING

I am not worthy. For starters I don’t know of anyone who hangouts out in warehouses at 5 in the morning looking that good. But if you’re as cool as Charli you can sing about whatever you want and dance wherever you want because with a bod like hers and fierce lyrics the world will eat out the palm of your hand.

OLIVIA O'BRIEN - RIP (FEAT. G-EAZY & DREW LOVE)

With recent news about Halsey and G - Eazy’s split and O’Brien’s latest remix of her hit single “RIP”, hardcore page-6 readers like me are left to speculate if G-Eazy’s contribution foreshadowed the break up? Dun-Dun-Duhhhhhhnnnnn. Far fetched idea, I’m sure, but one thing that is obvious is that Drew Love and G-Eazy take this breakup track to another level.

NIKI - WARPAINT

It’s no surprise that this indie “Warpaint” performed by up and coming artist Niki became this week’s Best New Track. Produced by Bram Inscore of our sister company Brill Building, “Warpaint” comes to life with the tender vocals and interpretation of an artist who is on our watch list.

AMILLI - RARRI

What Lorde gave “Royals” Amilli has topped with “Rarri.” The eighteen year old German singer invites us to look beyond the materialism and just be cool with what’s real. Her bold cheeky perspective has caught our attention and anticipate further realness from her.

XYLØ  - DON’T PANIC

We wrap up today’s list with a reminder that no matter how many irresponsible things you do today don’t panic because as XYLO sings “I’m just living my life .. don’t panic.”

Alrighty then that’s all for this week. Enjoy your short holiday and we’ll see you back here tomorrow.

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
