We give you the permission to slap us hard and good. We’ve been in a week long music coma, indulging on the latest and newest indie pop tracks. Seriously, we need catch some rays and gossip, being locked up is taking a toll on our sexiness. It’s really too bad it’s still daylight outside, but we kinda desperately need to pump ourselves with some Vitamin D. Before we jet we leave you in good company with LANY, HOLYCHILD, Big Data, and more. Yes, music for all, and you’re all going to love it. BRB!

LANY - THRU THESE TEARS

What happens when Dua Lipa rips your heart out? You create an beautiful pop ballad of course. Rumor has it that LANY band member Paul Klein’s inspiration for “Thru These Tears” was brought on by last year’s break up with Dua Lipa and according to Klein himself, “ it's bigger than a breakup album, this is just about being human and going through the ups and downs." We can all relate.

HOLYCHILD - WISHING YOU AWAY

HOLYCHILD is back with a new single and the result is: a freaking dang cathy track that delivers a hard hitting message perfect for those needing courage to get out of a bad relationship. “Wishing You” away sums up what front woman Liz Nistico and many other people have had to deal with. But know that you are not stuck, you can get away and get help.

BENNY BLANCO, HALSEY, KHALID - EASTSIDE

We all have some childhood love story we would love to tell, but I am willing to bet they are not as entertaining as Benny Blanco’s first girlfriend or Halsey’s first girl crush. “Eastside” takes a look at these two artists past while Khalid provides his vocals. Listen and enjoy.

SASHA SLOAN - READY YET

In March of this year, Sasha Sloan took to Twitter to explain that “Ready Yet” was about her dad and not about a boy like most of us assumed. Taking a look at the video for the track we can’t help but want to reach out to her and give her hugs for days. We love you girl and hate you’re sad, but all this sadness sure makes beautiful music.

JOJI & BLOC BOY - PEACH JAM

One pool party you’ll want to be a part of is 88rising’s Joji and Bloc Boy. With girls on one hand and Peaches in the other, you’ll be left swinging your hips and yelling out “hot damn.” Just don’t drink the pool water.

GALANTIS - SATISFIED FEAT MAX

With Galantis and Max joining forces you can wave the rest of your to do list goodbye because the only thing you’ll be wanting to do requires very little effort, unless you are like me and dancing doesn’t come easy no matter how hard you try.

ALLIE X - NOT SO BAD IN LA

In Allie X’s looping new single, she paints the picture of a Los Angeles where  people are lost in their own surreal world. “Not So Bad In LA” is as dark as the reality that the sunny skies day after day are covered thanks to a thick layer of smog.

KIIARA - MESSY (STRIPPED)

Kiiara  is giving it to us three ways. First came the original then the irresistible dance inspired remix by R3HAB and now she serenades us with the stripped version of “Messy.” All we can say is “wow,” this girl is going places and this track and this version is pure fire.

THE INTERNET - LA DI DA

There are two kinds of people in this world, those who listen to The Internet and those who do not. What kind of person do you want to be? The answer is obvious because life is a whole lot brighter when it’s filled with funky uplifting beats.

RICH BRIAN - HISTORY

Brian takes us down memory lane as we listen and watch the  self-produced single “History.” The  dream like melody cradles the thought of Rich Brian and a previous relationship still having history together and perhaps foreshadows some sort of near future hook up. No shame in going back for seconds.

That is all for this week's best of Indie pop. As always will see you again next week with more must listen to songs.

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
