BEST INDIE POP - WEEK 37

9/9/15
"Pink fire hydran" by Nicolas Nova

Do you hear that? Well if it isn’t another round of the Best Indie Pop songs from the past week. Yaaaay! I sure hope you’re excited because this was no easy task. While you and your untanned booties were out catching some sun, we here at BitCandy were filtering through a whole bunch of crap. My ears are in serious need of therapy; music was brutal and my patience was short. Thankfully the below indie and not so indie artists came to the rescue. Sit back, turn it up, and enjoy the latest from SEVDALIZA, HER, FRANCES and others.

SEVDALIZA - THAT OTHER GIRL

For listeners who seek the rare combination of hypnotic vocals and trap driven sounds, Dutch artist SEVDALIZA may be perfect for you. Her latest single, “That Other Girl,” is equally beautiful as it is somber and the video for the track is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. The artistic depth makes this one of the best video’s we’ve come across in a while. Cheers to hoping this track puts SEVDALIZA on the radar.

AVICII - FOR A BETTER DAY

I am very much in shock after realizing that I am slowly turning into an Avicii fan. I was never a fan of his levels style music, but the new direction in sound that Avicii has taken for his upcoming album, Stories, is something I can get behind. If you’re like me I’m sure you’ll enjoy “For A Better Day” in which Avicii directs the video and takes on a heavy social theme.

JAHKOY - STILL IN LOVE

I can’t feel my face when I’m listening to Jahkoy but I love it. That was way cheesy, haha! Canadian indie artist has produced what may possibly be my favorite track this week for its sultry voice and intimate feel. Take note of this guy because “Still In Love” is the perfect embodiment of the future of RnB music.

FALLULAH - SOCIAL CLUB

“Social Club” is the kind of track you didn’t realize you were in desperate need of. Displaying that she is very capable of running in the same scene as artists like MØ, Dutch artist Fallulah debuts onto our Best of Indie Pop post with a power punch single equipped with a catchy hook. Discover more of Fallulah above.

HER - FIVE MINUTES

Sometimes less is more, like in the case of mysterious band HER. Driven by a danceable beat, their latest release, “Five Minutes,” moves you into a deep dreamlike state of mind. You know what, I take back my opening statement. Less is not more, because with music this good I want more. HER, if you’re reading this contact me ASAP, must know more about you.

SAY LOU LOU - HARD FOR A MAN

I’m so dirty minded, haha. The song is totally not what I had in mind. Moving along... It’s been a heck of a long time since we heard anything from Say Lou Lou and we welcome them back with a lot of love. Melancholic pop just isn’t as painfully beautiful if it’s not coming from these two ladies. Prepare to feel alive again with their latest single, “Hard For A Man.”

FRANCES - LET IT OUT

Once again indie songstress Frances conquers our ears with another spellbinding track. “Let It Out” is all vocals, and with vocals like France’s you really don’t need much else.

MISUN - HARLOT (LAKECHILD REMIX)

Oh this takes me back to late 90’s, early 00’s. What originally was a psychedelic infused track that needed no fixing has now turned into a track destined for the dance floor thanks to house music duo Lakechild.

MAGGIE LINDEMANN - KNOCKING ON YOUR HEART

Color me impressed! Maggie Lindemann has taken over Instagram, the fashion world, and is now about to take over our ears. Yes on so many levels to her debut into the music scene. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for more breathtaking pieces.

EVES THE BEHAVIOR - ELECTRICAL

If I had to sum up Eves The Behavior in one word it would be: Dazzling. Packed with a fully charged (no pun intended) production, Australian singer graces our ears with a gorgeous soundscape and soaring vocals. If you dig this then you’ll not want to miss out on her Electrical EP out now.

And with this we conclude today’s hottest Pop tracks. See you all next week. Stay hydrated!

About Beca Arredondo

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
