True music fanatics know the pace of music moves much faster than weekly rags and monthly glossies. In fact, much of music news moves so quickly it's missed even by the 24/7 news cycle of daily music journalism. We simply don't have time to comment on every noteworthy Tweet, Instagram post, or Snap. But don’t ya worry about missing a beat because we've rounded up some of our favorite posts from this last week. You'll hear from Bishop Briggs, on tour for her first full album (finally!), see Katy Perry as a cartoon character, and get some words of wisdom from Logic's wrist. Enjoy!

Maluma Gets Glamorous While Pre-Gaming In McAllen, Tx.

Vibing before the show / vibrando antes del show

A post shared by MALUMA (@maluma) on Apr 28, 2018 at 6:42pm PDT

Judging from his slick tuxedo-and-shades look before his show in McAllen, Texas, you might think that Colombian singer Maluma's new album, F.A.M.E., is all about the Benjamins. Don't judge a Colombian pop star by their cover, no matter how sharp the threads, however - F.A.M.E. actually stands for "faith, Alma (Spanish for 'soul'), Music, and Essence." The rising Colombian Pop star has every reason to be dancing on the sofa. This simple, vibe-a-licious backstage glimpse has received almost 4 million views in less than a week. He even got a nice compliment from Diplo, calling him the "Master Of Dance."

Bishop Briggs Gets Her Nose Pierced

A post shared by Bishop Briggs (@thatgirlbishop) on Apr 29, 2018 at 6:08pm PDT

Bishop Briggs has every reason to be celebrating. Her voice has been practically a household fixture for several years now. Briggs' breakthrough single, "River", has featured on several high-profile soundtracks since it dropped in 2016, from Scream: The TV Series to Good Behavior. Her profile has been steadily rising, culminating in a few even bigger music syncs. Briggs has recently had tracks on the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack and xXx: Return Of Xander Cage.

Despite how omnipresent Bishop Briggs' soulful, doomed gospel vocals may have been the past few years, Briggs actually just dropped her first proper full-length a few weeks ago, Church Of Scars. She's taking her debut out into the wilds with the Church Of Scars tour. She's been sharing behind-the-scenes from the tour on her Instagram, with all manner of entertaining slice-of-life scenes. Like this one, where she gets her nose pierced. At the end, she asks "Do I look cute, or like a douche?" Even rising indie stars struggle with looking good in a nose ring!

Katy Perry As Snow White On American Idol

Katy Perry's been up to some pretty wacky antics since she started judging on American Idol, much to ABC's delight. She's had a contestant pick a golden ticket from between her toes, inadvertently stolen someone's first kiss, and, this week, dressed as Snow White and making some dwarf puns.

Katy Perry seems so pretty and perfect sometimes she could have stepped straight out of a fairy tale. Judging from this Instagram pic, it's easy to imagine Perry with animated bluebirds twittering on her shoulders. We Are: The Guard have a pretty good sense who would appear in the "mirror, mirror" of ABC executives, wondering who the fairest meal-ticket in the land might be?

Logic's New Ink

Thank you @chueyquintanar for the amazing ink! The other day I was in the car driving through a beautiful place I had never been before. And I was staring at my phone on Instagram like you are right now. And I saw a post that made me realize I wasn’t in the moment and appreciating the things around me. So I put “Look Around” on my wrist just underneath my eye line of where my phone is when holding it in my hand. As a reminder when I’m on it to put it down and enjoy the gift of right now. A fun fact about the handwriting is it’s my best friends, @biglenbo who also supplied the handwriting on the cover of my debut album Under Pressure. And well, as for my left hand. Frank Sinatra has always been my biggest musical inspiration. And last minute in the car I decided to also get his very own signature to live with me forever... and there you have it! #RattPack

Producer/singer/songwriter Logic got a little personal on his Instagram feed this last week, telling the inspiration behind two subtle wrist tattoos. One simply reads "Look around," and the other is Frank Sinatra's signature, his favorite musician.

Logic also shared a moving story about the tattoo's origin story. He was realizing how much of his life was spent lost in social media inspired him to ink a permanent reminder. Let's take a moment to borrow some inspiration from his playbook.

The death of Swedish DJ/producer Avicii rocked the electronic music world in every way. We will be feeling the repercussions of his passing for some time, as we do every time someone so talented is snuffed out before their time.

Chinese-American electronic musician Zhu took reminded us that Avicii's lights will never go out at a concert earlier this week, with a moving tribute to a sold-out crowd.

Grimes + Poppy = Collab?

soon........ ?

A post shared by Grimezsz (@grimes) on May 2, 2018 at 1:00pm PDT

Grimes and That Poppy are two of the most, forward-looking, fashionable feminine voices in avant-Pop these past few years. Seeing them together in a photograph, alone, is cause for celebration. The caption, "soon........ ?" is enough to drive us mad with expectation and wonder.

It's been a minute since we've heard new music from Ms. Boucher. That Poppy has been in the headlines for all manner of reasons, including dropping her first full-length recently. You can read more about That Poppy at our Emerging Artist feature from a few months ago.

Both artists are some of the best at welding an avant-garde aesthetic to confectionary, infectious Pop melodies. Both of them working together is bound to be addictive!

That about wraps it up for us this week on our Best Of Instagram recap! You can find us on Instagram and follow along for daily indie music updates! We Are: The Guard, and we never rest, bringing you the freshest, best music news, all of the time!
