BEST NEW INDIE: SO MUCH LIGHT - SIT WITH IT
The election of Donald J. Trump got you feeling some type of way? We here at BitCandy can TOTALLY relate, as can Damien Verrett – better known as the brainchild behind So Much Light – who returns today with “Sit With It,” a song penned in response to, well, this:
“Hey guys. It's been a weird week. Here's my best effort to provide a little catharsis,” writes the Sacramento producer on his Twitter page of “Sit With It,” a composition that's less of a song, more of an abstract sonic moodpiece.
SO MUCH LIGHT - SIT WITH IT
Brooding electronics swell and retreat around So Much Light's fractured, warbling croon throughout the three-minute symphony, which although sounds “prettay, prettay” dark and despairing on first impression, actually conceals a deeply hopeful message about coming together in times of adversity.
“Let's hurt as one/Take form/Go forward,” sings Verrett, his lyrics reading like a kind of gorgeous call to arms against the hate currently – terrifyingly – sweeping across America.
Politics not your thing? “Sit With It” still stands alone as a devastatingly lush listen that deserves a place on any introspective indie mixtape, so what are you waiting for? Hit play on the track above , then head over to So Much Light's SoundCloud page for yet more music to make you feel some type of way.

She studies the English language, to be precise. Jess is currently on her way to a degree in the subject, and enjoys starting and never finishing novels, screenplays, and poetry in her spare time. She also likes dogs. Lots of dogs.
