Woah? What the hell is? It’s not every day that I’m surprised by a sound as original and instantaneously iconic as this one. Kelly Lee Owens perfectly mixes dream pop vocals with a funky techno rhythm and weirdo bass lines to produce something that emerges out of the muck of thousands of producers and singers to be something truly worth talking about. KELLY LEE OWENS - MORE THAN A WOMAN
Into pop songwriting? Check, it’s here. Techno Purist? Got you covered. Avant-Garde Experimental Enthusiast? 100% Generic Dance Music Fan? You’re gonna love it. This has the potential to be some kind of possible surprise radio crossover that could have the whole world bobbing to sounds that have only been heard in dark warehouses up until now. Yeah, I remember when Disclosure first came out. We have much thanks to give to her buddies (and killer techno guys) Daniel Avery and Ghost Culture for getting her in the studio, and encouraging her to develop her own sound. Because now we have this awesome new unbridled raw talent in Kelly Lee Owens. “More Than a Woman” is Kelly Lee Owen’s first follow-up after her debut self-titled album was released this March. You can download or stream it over on Bandcamp.
The release on Smalltown Supersound features a remix from KLO which strips away some of the pop sensibility and gets it hot and ready, straight techno fire for the club.
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
