BEST NEW SONGS: Moses Sumney - Lonely World

Moses Sumney - Worth It

Last month we brought you Moses Sumney’s gorgeous minimalist single, “Worth It,” and now Mr. Sumney is back with another ethereal single, “Lonely World.” Both tracks appear on his newest EP, Lamentations.

While “Lonely World” has the same spacey, otherworldly feel as “Worth It,” it ultimately has a more fleshed out sound. This makes sense once you learn about the all-stars Sumney surrounded himself with for this track. You’ve got Thundercat killing it on the bass, as he always does, Tosin Abasi (Animals As Leaders) on guitar and Ian Chang (Son Lux) on drums. The result is a spellbinding soul cut that builds into something that borders on transcendence. That may be a bit of an overstatement, but this sh*t rules. Sumney croons about some truly depressing and esoteric thoughts, yet they sound like a soothing lullabye in his pristine falsetto.

Listen to it below, and if you’re like me you’ll keep on playing it for the rest of the day.

Lamentations is out now. Stream or buy it wherever you do such things in this digital world of ours.

And as always thanks for stopping by Bitcandy.
