BEST NEW SONGS: THE NAKED AND FAMOUS - HIGHER

7/11/16
The Naked And Famous - Higher

New Zealand born but Los Angeles based The Naked and Famous took some time off after taking over the world with “Young Blood” three years ago. They're back now as a more mature and polished unit, and their newest single, “Higher,” is another indie pop gem that’ll get your heart racing and wind up in 100+ commercials.

As the first single off the band’s forthcoming third proper album, Simple Forms, “Higher” plays to similar notes as their smash hit, without it blatantly being Young Blood II (although I’m sure Rob Lowe wouldn’ve taken their calls).

If you listen to the members of the band, we’re lucky that this record is even happening. According to the parties involved, T/N/A/F were nearly torn apart from the inside with this disillusion of the romantic relationship between members Thom Powers and co-vocalist Alisa Xayalith. Which means that Simple Forms could be the indie pop rock equivalent of Rumors. If that’s the case, “Higher” is probably “Go Your Own Way.”
