BEST NEW TRACK: NINE INCH NAILS - THIS ISN'T THE PLACE
Trent Reznor isn't going anywhere. As the years go by, his talent ages like a fine wine—it gets more and more distinguished. Needless to say, We Are: The Guard are obsessed with the songs dropping from Nine Inch Nails' new EP, ADD VIOLENCE.
NINE INCH NAILS - THIS ISN'T THE PLACE
The compilation's latest single is called "This Isn't The Place." Even though we have to wait a full two and a half minutes to hear his vocals, it is a haunting triumph. And we sincerely mean its haunting like most everything Trent Reznor is involved in —whether it be The Social Network or his early 90s classics. "This Isn't The Place" has an extra long opening and builds anticipation for the sweet moment we hear the revered frontman's eerie vocals. Its percussive instrumentation that rattles and taps. And then, when his voice does finally arise, it never overshadows the melodies. He is acutely aware of the sounds around him, and let's them play together. Reznor uses his range subtly, as though he is yet another instrument instead of a leader in the forefront.
We're not sure what emotions it draws or what the icon and his team felt when they were creating this music. Uneasy, perhaps? What we do know is that what results from his creative process is one truly unified, moving sound.
