BEST NEW TRACKS: CHELSEA LANKES “TOO YOUNG TO FALL IN LOVE (MÖTLEY CRÜE COVER)”
For one of the defining bands of the hair metal era, Mötley Crüe is easily dismissed for how many great songs they actually wrote. A perfect example of this is Chelsea Lankes spell-binding new cover of one of their seminal songs, “Too Young to Fall In Love.”
Of the countless times I’ve listened to “Too Young to Fall In Love,” I never once thought this song was a stealth pop gem. But after hearing the California songstress's take on the matter, I don’t know how I always missed it. Ms. Lankes turns TYTFIL (as the kids will inevitably start calling it) into a moody, synth-driven number that’s teaming with teenage angst. She makes the cover her own, which is what any good cover song should do.
Have a listen below. Long-time Crüe fans may have a visceral reaction to this one, but it’s a great tune if you just give it a chance.

Here’s the original, just so you get an idea as to what a stark contrast this is. This is also one of the radest music videos from the 80’s, so enjoy.
