BEST NEW TRACKS: KWABS - PERFECT RUIN

Kwabs - Perfect Ruin

London-based Ghana-born singer Kwabena Adjepong, a.k.a. Kwabs, keeps adding to his already stellar resume with the best new song, "Perfect Ruin."

Off his forthcoming debut album Love + War, “Perfect Ruin” is a stirring, emotive ballad that shows off what a sterling set of pipes Mr. Adjepong has. He’s teamed with emerging producer Felix Joseph, who creates a minimalistic score for Kwabs' angelic vocals to float through. A solo piano and some sparse strings are the only instrumentation involved here, which perfectly matches the song’s tone. Besides, when you have a voice this dynamite, why muddle it with a bunch of other noises?

KWABS “PERFECT RUIN”

Love + War is out in May. Pre-orders are being taken now, but only in the UK. Ain’t that some xenophobic shit.

In closing, here are the lyrics to Kwabs “Perfect Ruin” for your reading pleasure.

how long can lovers stand to prove they were right?
why did i fold my hand?
why choose another fight?

how long would we have gone to know we shouldn’t stay?

i saw you walk the wire.
i watched you burn away

and somehow it moved me
your love has powers over me
oh what dream is this?
somehow it towers over me.

send your love to move me
my world has powered over me
in perfect ruins
somehow it towers over me.

who said we had it all?
our hearts no longer lie
who knew the veil would fall?
who’d guess that we would cry?

what more were we to do?
two souls who had their fill
your love it keeps me here
you keep me wondering still

and somehow it moved me
your love has powers over me
oh what dream is this?
somehow it towers over me.

send your love to move me
my world has powered over me
in perfect ruins
somehow it towers over me.
