BEST NEW TRACKS: MISTERWIVES - COLORING OUTSIDE THE LINES
We Are: The Guard have been waiting two years to hear new music from MisterWives and the time has finally come. This Friday, May 19, they're releasing their new album, Connect the Dots. But of course, they have to tease us with a few poppy jams before they deliver the goods in full. Since they've announced their sophomore album, they have premiered four equally delightful tracks and the most recent song is the best one yet.
MISTERWIVES - COLORING OUTSIDE THE LINES
The song we're referring to is called "Coloring Outside The Lines" and its about as effervescent as the first pop of a champagne bottle. Frontwoman Mandy Lee makes a comeback with her signature vibrato mightier than ever to muse about a love that is perfect in it's imperfection. That's why we love Misterwives—their descriptions are romantic but not idealistic. They're relatable. She speaks of messing up a duet and getting tangled in bed—scenarios that are so vivid that you can easily picture them.
That picture is drawn even more vibrant thanks to the band's melodies. The guitar, synsth, and bass are all expertly fused to make you want to dance in the mirror., It's percussionist Etienne Bowler, however, that manages to drop in exactly where needed to give the song that little extra something special. And when we look back at all of the songs they've released from Connect the Dots so far, they all share that element of surprise, separating them from comparable bands like Paramore. Maybe this will be their breakthrough album?
