BEST NEW TRACKS: “WAIT FOR LIFE (FT. LANA DEL REY)”

Emile Haynie “Wait For Life (Featuring Lana Del Rey)”

Every Lana Del Rey song, at least for me, has the feel of teenage heartbreak. Her guest appearance on the “Wait For Life,” the best new song from Emile Haynie, is no exception.

“Wait For Life” is off the forthcoming album, We Fall, from, you guessed it, Grammy-nominated producer Emile Haynie. The Buffalo-native worked with Lana on Born To Die, and this cut feels like it would have fit nicely on that record. Built around a series of swelling strings, “Wait For Life” also has a slight spaghetti western feel to it, the same one that Haynie helped to curate on BTD. Lana is Lana here, as she always is. I don’t think all ever tire of the whole detached heartache thing she does so well.

“WAIT FOR LIFE (FT. LANA DEL REY)”

We Fall is out February 24th on Interscope. Pre-order from our Apple overlords here.

As a parting gift I give you the lyrics Lana Del Rey sings in “Wait For Life”:

why you make me work so hard to put on the evening show
when you know that all i want is to make your money grow?
you're like a baby who don't got nowhere to go
i feel you eyeing me
you keep it on the low

but i can't let you in
and i can't keep you out
i wait for life to win
but it never comes around

and i can't hear you call
and i can't hear me shout
i wait for it to break
but it never comes around

don't know me
i'm lonely

why you make me take that sh*t to put on that everning show
when you know i don't need it?
you're like a baby, don't know better
you don't know
you drag me down, you try to keep it on the low

but i can't let you in
and i can't keep you out
i wait for life to win
but it never comes around

and i can't hear you call
and i can't hear me shout
i wait for it to break
but it never comes around

feel like i'm falling apart
would you tell me?
would you tell me?
would you tell me?

but i can't let you in
and i can't keep you out
i wait for life to win
but it never comes around

and i can't hear you call
and i can't hear me shout
i wait for it to break
but it never comes around

don't know me
i'm lonely
