BEST NEW VIDEOS: OVERCOATS - I DON'T BELIEVE IN US
Happy November! We Are: The Guard’s got a juicy new video premiere out for all you kooky kids. It’s fun, energetic, and all about how love sucks. Right in time for cuffing season. Yay! You guys are going to love it.
This week’s release comes from our friends, Overcoats, who’ve already released an album this year and are just spoiling us rotten at this point. Watch the premiere for “I Don’t Believe in Us” down below. Get your dancing shoes out...
OVERCOATS - I DON'T BELIEVE IN US
“I Don’t Believe in Us” is a bouncy pop track that’ll have you on your feet, even if the lyrical content matches what I swear an atheist love song would: Please understand you don’t love me like you do / Don’t put your hands on me when I put all my faith in you.
The ladies of Overcoats don’t hold back with their dripping, cynical comments; this is a break-up song, if there ever was any. But the track’s whimsical feel keeps to Overcoats’ dreamy and often stirring aesthetic.
The video, meanwhile, follows a couple through their blossoming moments of young teenage-like love, down to the blisteringly awkward silences towards the end of their relationship. All the while there is choreography, vibrant rose walls (is this an homage to Kanye and Kim’s wedding? Probably not but I can still hope), and Overcoats duo JJ Mitchell and Hana Elion grooving to it all. I’d swear they were happy about this relationship’s demise...
Stay tuned to new releases from the pair, and listen Overcoats’ Young LP if you haven’t already! Soundcloud is over here.
