Best of PopKiller - 8 New Tracks (Week 28)
Once upon a time, pop music was about David Bowie, Duran Duran, Prince... you get the idea. Nowadays, we have One Direction, Justin Bieber and Jonas Brothers (< hold up, do these guys still exist, or are they all drug addicts now?).
We here at LA Music Blog, BitCandy, are determined to stop the pop world going to SHIT. But we need your help to spread the word. So put your copy of 50 Shades of Grey to one side (hehehe) and scroll down for some authentic, intelligent and plain awesome pop tracks, hand picked by Team Candy from the blogopshere this week. And then tell your friends about us!
With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict, and bring order to the pop galaxy... to paraphrase Darth Vader.
Blondfire “Where the Kids Are”
We're kicking off this week's PopKiller with a vintage cut from Blondfire. It might be 9 months old, but it still sounds fresher than bagels! A perfect summer jam...
Elliphant “Cian't Hear It”
Woah, a song that we actually like from Pitchfork! Hey, this girl likes to put fingers up your ass. Which is weird, because you normally want to put the finger in your ear if you “Cian’t hear it.” Elliphant - you kinky Swede. Still, cool track (as for the worst that Pitchfork has been posting... check out our snarky-larky article here.
The Killers "Runaways"
Finally The Killers are back .. to kill it like normal (except for that one album).
Florrie "Shot You Down"
Here's the addictive as crack opening track from Florrie's latest EP, Late. Oh, and feast your eyes upon the official video for some sexy Brit-chick drum SKILLZ!
Metric "Speed the Collapse"
I wasn’t a huge fan of this track at first, but it’s been growing on me. Still not sure if it lives up to the Metric I grew to love... what do you think?
Charli XCX "Grins (Blood Diamonds)"
How long have we been dishing about Charli XCX? Answer: a very long time. Here is another great track that we come to expect from the Brit.
The Hood Internet - Five Seconds Don't Care (Waka Flocka Flame x Twin Shadow)
Hood Internet always delivering. This mashup reminds me of the "spaz" scene in "Meatballs" which I truly highly recommend.
Frank Ocean "Super Rich Kids (feat. Earl Sweatshirt)"
Soz to jump on the bandwagon, but here's one of the fiercer cuts from Frank Ocean's new album, Channel Orange, featuring fellow Odd Future member, Earl Sweatshirt.
Over and out with PopKiller, but tune into LA Music Blog, BitCandy, for more guilt-free pop tarts next week... mmm, tasty! Now get back to fapping over your 50 Shades.
