CHILL OUT MUSIC - WEEK 36 PART 2 2014

9/3/14

Yo, it’s your Part 2 homie here! If you checked out Part 1 of this incredible playlist (click here if you haven’t) , you’ll be just about ready for some more chill out tracks to get you chilling out. REAL HARD! We’ve got Filous in the house. We’ve got Vaults in the house. We’ve got Marz Léon in the house. We’ve even got Björk in the house. Well, she’s not really in the house because she lives on another planet, but you get the general idea! So pack away your useless, mindless, annoying Apple products (besides the one you’re using to read this) and let’s get cracking!

JAMES HERSEY – COMING OVER (FILOUS REMIX)

Now I haven’t heard the original version of this song but I bet this remix is better! It’s super chilled out but now in a downer, party pooper kind of way. It’s still upbeat and I can imagine this song being played in a million different situations. Filous can “come over” to my place anytime (wink wink). James Hersey too.

JOHNNY GREEN – ONEIRO (FT. MAMMALS)

Oneiro - Johnny Green Featuring Mammals from LOVE F.A.M.E RECORDS on Vimeo.

I could’ve just included the track, but I thought you guys might need some extra help chilling out this week, so here’s the video for this sh*t! It’ll make your problems melt away along with your brain. But that depends on what sort of hallucinogenic you’re taking. Now if only life was as perfect as this song. Sigh!

VAULTS – HUNGER OF THE PINE (ALT-J COVER)

I didn’t think it was possible for anyone to successfully cover Alt-J, but damn, Vaults proved me wrong! AND it’s a whole lot better without Miley Cyrus, don’t you think?! I actually had to go back and listen to the original to see which one I prefer. I still can’t decide. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s a tie! Let’s get Vaults to do “Every Other Freckle” next! Who’s with me?

NICK HAKIM – LIFT ME UP

I agree with the person in the comments who said this song is “emotionally fulfilling”. Although I think the girl who wants this song played at her funeral should probably wait a while before making that decision. I always thought “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” by Death Cab For Cutie would make a great funeral song, but I’m old school like that! This song is about death. If you like it, you should check out Nick Hakim’s second EP Where Will We Go Pt.2. This is the second single released from that and it’s extremely promising!

BJÖRK – I REMEMBER YOU

What the Björk?! Why is a song from 1993 on this Best Chill Out playlist? (if you want more of that, click here [link: http://www.bitcandy.com/music/best-chill-out-music]) Well firstly because it’s a b-side! Released on the Venus As A Boy single. If you’re a Björk fan, you’ll think that’s pretty damn special. Oh yeah, and it’s an incredible song! Even if you’re not a Björk fan (I never really got into her, to be honest).

DEPTFORD GOTH – THE LOVERS

OMG! There’s a whole album of this stuff coming out on November 3rd?! That’s amazing. It’s called “Songs” and I think that’s a pretty decent title for almost every album. Straight forward, to the point, and leaves enough room for the songs to do the talking. And oh, do they talk! Love it!

OCTAVE MINDS – SYMMETRY SLICE

This track is pretty wacky, I’ve got to admit! But that doesn’t mean it’s not great to chill out to. Especially if you like space exploration (I don’t know why). The world is loving this upcoming album by BoysNoize and ChillyGonzales. Octave Minds. Remember that name when your friends ask you if you're listening to anything cool at the moment.

MARZ LÉON – KING

AH! It’s my favourite new artist of 2014. Marz Léon is so exciting, it’s like I’ve never been this excited before in my whole entire life. And although that’s not true, this track ain’t lying! You should definitely, definitely, definitely go and check out her other stuff. Especially the music videos. And the best part about it? Almost no one knows about her yet. Get on that sh*t, bro!

SEYR - RHB

I don’t have the best vision in the world, but that video was completely blurry. I mean, I couldn’t even see anything. That’s the point?! Oh, my bad. I’m digging the track though. And even less people have seen this one. Hey, let’s play a game? Everyone who reads this should write the number of views this video has in the comment section. We’ll watch that number rise together, like a real family.

So, you chilled out? To the max? With a cat? On a mat? Wearing a hat? Good, hipster! Now go and tell all of your hipsters friends about the cool new music you saw this week on Bitcandy. OK? OK! We’ll meet back here next week for more of the same? Cool! You’re the best friend a girl could ever have. Serious! X x x

About Bianca Fernandes

Bianca Fernandes has an unfounded love for Taylor Swift and an unexplainable, burning hatred for Bob Dylan. In her opinion, that's the perfect combination to be a music reviewer. And she doesn't give an F about what you have to say about it. She writes for one person, and that's herself. Think grumpy cat with a weakness for music and watching Miley Cyrus twerk. But she does other things simply for cash, like social media, web content creation and some crazy blogging when necessary.
