ELECTRO HOUSE - WEEK 52

12/23/15
“the future" by TORLEY

So New Year's is around the corner and there you are without anyone to kiss when the ball drops and the bell strikes midnight. So! Stop feeling sorry for yourself. You have a WHOLE week or so to figure it out. Maybe you should turn these tunes into a soundcloud playlist and blast them out the window of your new car and whoever comes running is probably pretty much your soulmate. But then you really should be asking yourself if someone who runs up to a car and asks you to go on a New Year's date because you’re blasting sweet tunes is really the type of person you wanna take home to mama. Who cares! You can figure that out in 2016.

This is the most stockpiled week I've ever seen. Enjoy the holidays with these amazing new songs from Skrillex, Deorro, Jauz, Marshmello, Mr. Oizo, Destructo, The M Machine, Shiba San, Justin Jay and Axwell. What a stacked week! Is it Christmas or something? Oh yeah… BASICALLY.

SKRILLEX & THE GAME - EL CHAPO

Man I fucking hate hip-hop. But you know maybe I hate it slightly less when it’s produced by Skrilly with those huge horn lines and The Game’s sick flow. Okay, maybe I don’t hate it at all. Maybe I pretty much love it.

MR. OIZO - BEING FLAT

Mr. Oizo is the king of weirdness. So, even though his new Ed Banger EP contains a track with Charli XCX, I’m choosing instead to pay attention to his new tribute (re-edit?) to his classic track, "Flat Beat," and the character that made us all fall in love with him, Flat Eric. This is the weird we were raised on and the weird we want. None of that pop shit.

DEORRO & DIRTY AUDIO FT. MISS PALMER - NO MORE PROMISES

I’m a Miss Palmer fan for life because of her feature on Steve Aoki and Afrojack’s "No Beef." So I’ll get giddy like a 19 year old raver every time I hear her voice and there’s nothing you can do about it. It’s like the perfect companion to a MainStage BANGER. Deorro and Dirty Audio may just be the new Steve Aoki and Afrojack with this one. This shit hits heavy and hard. I’m sure there will be kids bouncing to this for the next six to twelve months.

AXWELL - WAITING FOR SO LONG (GLORIA)

Oh boy, Axwell making disco again? I never thought I’d see the day. This is some beautiful horn-driven disco from a master of song craft. Just when I started counting this guy down and out, he comes back with one of his most relevant songs since Swedish House Mafia were on top of the world.

DESTRUCTO & BOT - SHIPFAM FEAT. ANNA LUNOE & SGT. BUZZKILL

This is as cheesy as cheese fried Kraft macaroni and cheese cheeseball doused in cheez-whiz that just won first prize at the National Cheese Convention. Cheesus Christ.

DUKE DUMONT - NEED U 100% (JAUZ & MARSHMELLO REMIX)

Oh hey, do you wanna hear a fucking amazing remix from two of the best bass producers out there today? Because I literally always do. So deal with it. Got the mellow sounds and the jazz sounds smoothed together like pb and jay. This shit is weird and funky and wild and trappy and everything the kids want. Shit, everything I want too. These boys really know how to deliver (must have been Dominos drivers in a past life).

TIGA - DON'T BREAK MY HEART (SHIBA SAN REMIX)

Tiga’s new live vocal track, "Don’t Break My Heart," has already been featured here because Tiga is the fucking best and not enough people agree with that fact, so we’ll shove it down your throat as much as we possibly can. But this is Shiba San’s remix and it stands up with the best of the G-House King’s tracks. See, of course Shiba San delivers something outstanding for Tiga— he’s got too much respect to deliver anything sub par. Where’s your level of respect, is it that high? Let's get it there.

THE M MACHINE - MR. VOICE AND THE CLOUDTOP GLIDE ALONG

Remember when the M Machine were making banging electro and not weird strange chiptune vocal edit strangeness? Well, aren’t we lucky to live in a time where artists can reinvent themselves and don’t have to be stuck in the same genre like some music industry nazi dictatorship. I’m very grateful that these guys literally said, “Fuck all that shit. We gonna make whatever the fuck we want.” 2016 baby, no dictators.

BARNT - CHAPEL (JUSTIN JAY EDIT FT. HENRY WAS & BENNY BRIDGES)

Okay, so today we learned that Justin Jay has hard-hitting techno in his blood. Like DEEP. Like all of his white blood cells are made up of hard hitting techno and it was just the red blood cells making house this whole time. Just another thing to check off this dirtybird wunderkinds list. He’s pretty much perfect.

HENRIK THE ARTIST - NAKED

Oh Ryan Hemsworth, how I love your secret songs soundcloud. You’ve turned me on to the coolest artists with the coolest ideas. Henrik The Artist’s "Naked" is like a cross between the Arthur theme song and the entire Donkey Kong Country soundtrack. I’m a child of the 90’s and I love everything about this. I hope you do too, Internet friends!
