MARC E. BASSY - PLOT TWIST

SoundcloudNearly two calendar years since the indefinite hiatus of Marc Griffin’s band 2AM Club, he has made a name for himself going solo known by the moniker Marc E. Bassy. Mashing together R&B with synth-pop, "Plot Twist" paints a picturesque aural journey with Bassy’s sultry vocals driving the narrative across catchy hooks and addictive beats. KYLE’s inclusion on this song fits in seamlessly without a sense of disrupting the flow of the track. Also, he doesn’t sound too Drake-like here. So, that’s a plus. Bassy’s vocal prowess should be commended as it is pleasurable as a nicely-made cappuccino, strong, frothy, and hits the spot.

With 2AM Club’s hiatus, Marc E. Bassy’s solo career was off to an invigorating start since 2015. With the looks and the voice, he has the all the potential to go at it alone. The story of "Plot Twist" is not rocket science, but few love songs these days are. Everything has been done in pop in the last century. But if we talk about execution, "Plot Twist" fulfills those expectations. It is catchy enough to warrant another listen, and maybe a few more after that.
