INDIE CHRISTMAS VIDEO: MXMS - CAROL OF THE BELLS

MXMS - Carol of the Bells

If you’re not particularly vibing with our Indie Christmas posts because they’re all a little too cheery… maybe you’re more into dour Christmas songs like “The Pogues Fairytale of New York” and hate more than anything that Ed Sheehan released a cover of it this year.

Well, boy oh boy oh boy do we have the video for you.

MXMS’ darkly gothic dubstep influenced rendition of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra classic “Carol of the Bells” is one to wrap and put under the tree and treasure for infinity. Play this one for your family around the hearth and they’ll have just another reason to worry that they’re son or daughter really off in the big city getting hooked on meth and prostituting themselves out on the Internet.  This is the most goth Christmas song since Ministry’s cover of “Blue Christmas.”

But it’s the holidays so there’s nothing they can do about it but continue to love you for the freak you are. PLAY IT BACKWARDS.

And then that music video, huh? That’s just about the least Christmas thing you can possibly imagine. The brutal beauty of nature. An unforgiving ocean, seals torn apart by glitch sharks. What’s more Christmas than animals absolutely destroying each other? Maybe this is just what your family dinner is going to look like? On second thought, keep this one to your headphones, but feel free to share We Are: The Guard Indie Christmas with everyone!
