BEST NEW TRACKS: LONDON GRAMMAR "DEVIL INSIDE (INXS COVER)"

3/26/14

It feels like we’ve been here before with London Grammar. The trio does a stripped down, moody cover of some mildly obscure song from a different genre, in this case INXS’ “Devil Inside,” and we call it a best new track.

Still riding high after all the critical acclaim that was heaped on them after their debut, If You Wait, London Grammar decided to try their hand at INXS pop-rock classic for the newest season of Game of Thrones. As we alluded to in the intro, London Grammar’s take on this track is sparse, minimalistic, and rather haunting. This version seems to really tap into the sadness and despair of the original. Hear it for yourself below, then stick around for some good extras.

And here’s the original for your comparing pleasure. Or for most of our readers who weren’t alive in the 1980’s, a reference point:

Lastly, here’s the trailer to Game of Thrones which features London Grammar’s cover.

GAME OF THRONES SEASON 4: TRAILER #4 - DEVIL INSIDE

Season 4 of Game of Thrones starts April 6th on HBO. But I’d wager you already knew that if you give a shit about Game of Thrones.

Anyhow, here’s another London Grammar cover we wrote about. This would be the song alluded to in this post's opening sentence, for those of you scoring at home.

As always, thanks for stopping by Bitcandy.
