BEST NEW TRACKS: MANICAN PARTY "RAKIM (DEAD CAN DANCE COVER)"
That moment when a band covers a song that's so perfect for them you just have to call it a best new track, like Manicanparty "Rakim (Dead Can Dance Cover)."
If you've listened to the New York duo's debut, The District EP, you could tell their British influences were plentiful. So covering Dead Can Dance's hit "Rakim" seemed like a natural move. And stop writing your hate mail now, I know that Dead Can Dance is from Australia, but they recorded all their shit in London and the have that UK dark wave sound. Jess Corazza's vox shine once again, as she's fast becoming one of my favorite voices at the moment. Meanwhile Pat Morrissey crafts an exquisite beat that keeps the spirit of the original while giving a much needed make over. Hear it for yourself below:
