BEST NEW TRACKS: MONARCHY "LIVING WITHOUT YOU (DEAD ROBOT VERSION)"
I never knew you were allowed to remix your own song, kinda reminds me of that Dave Chapelle-Antwone Fisher spoof. But if I was Monarchy and I wrote a cool song like "Living Without You," I supposed I would want to rework it too.
"Living Without You (Dead Robot Version)" is exactly like it sounds. The electro-pop bros from London have gutted their own hit single of humanity and replaced its once beating heart with that of a cold, lifeless machine. Having stripped the power ballad of its bombast and shine, what's left isn't a shell of a song, but something much more somber and sorrowful. In a lot of ways this animatronic make-over of the track really taps into the heartbreaking lyrics that could easily be glossed over before. Listen below to hear the transformation for yourself.
