NEW EDM - WEEK 33
Welcome back to another week of raving, dancing, waving and prancing. I’ve just been in Canada for a week at Shambhala Music Festival and I heard more amazing music than I can even wrap my head around. Maybe I’ll have a mid-week post all about the amazing tunes up there. But for now, I got some blogosphere hotness for you. This is that new shit that keeps popping up on my feeds and I just gotta share with the homies.
Hope you like what I got for you this week! New music from ‘cha boys GRIZ, Big Gigantic, Felix Jaehn and Hudson Mohawke just to name a few. :)
GRIZ X BIG GIGANTIC - GOOD TIMES ROLL
Two of the biggest names at Shambhala this year were GRIZ and Big Gigantic. Big Gigantic headlined the Bass Stage on Sunday night and GRIZ rang in the main stage pre-secret headliner set. Both of their sets were big funky parties. Though I didn’t hear this track (maybe I did, who’d remember) I sure wish that I had. What a funk funky party tune. These boys know exactly what my ears want to hear. Now just to remember if I heard it this weekend or not…
FELIX JAEHN - BOOK OF LOVE (FEAT. POLINA) [EXTENDED MIX]
Now this is the type of single that shoots an artist into the stratosphere. This track is some catchy, beautiful and melodic deep as shit house. This is exactly what every listener in the world is hoping for right now. Something house, on point, with a great featured vocalist — get ready for 2016 the year of Felix Jaehn.
LE CASTLE VANIA & LUMBERJVCK - HAM SANDWICH
Le Castle Vania’s Electro mixes perfectly with LUMBERJVCK’s Festival Trap. Throw in a silly (youtube?) vocal sample and you’ve got the perfect combination to go Ham Sandwich to. Or just party. Or is going ham sandwich a metaphor for partying? Shit.
ADDAL FEAT. LISA MAY - MORNING IN LOVE
In 2015, the great year of Deep House we’re blessed to have so many solid songs like this. I can’t say this track is the most original one of the planet but honestly who cares. We live in an era full of super solid ass songs. Once the guitar kicks in half way through, the track levels up taking us on an emotional journey through Addal’s feelings.
TIESTO & KSHMR - SECRETS FEAT. VASSY (DON DIABLO'S VIP MIX)
Don Diablo is one of the most solid producers working in the game today. He’s got all sorts of sounds down pat. He can do hard hitting electro right next to funky future house. Maybe that’s why he’s in one of the most demand dudes out there. Keep doing you baby boo.
HUDSON MOHAWKE - SYSTEM
Though I’ll never truly be happy about Hudson Mohawke and Lunice solo work (I’d much prefer TNGHT till they die) I GUESS something is better than nothing. But this something really is something. It gets weird and trappy and interesting, just like I expect from HudMO. Maybe I should just shut my mouth and be happy about the awesome music I’m getting. Okay, I’ll do that now.
THROTTLE - TOGETHER FT. DAVID SPEKTER
Okay, so I’ve either been hearing this track out EVERYWHERE or it’s just so good that it feels like I’ve been hearing it out everywhere. Honestly, either way I’m all about it. Can’t go wrong with catchy, Avicii style melodies and a HOOK like the kind they use on professional fishing boats. YA!
HLM - PINK GORILLA
HLM with some hard-hitting electro. Just how I like it. No big build ups and drops, just good old fashioned electro beats. Sounds just turning into other sounds. That bomb acid grinding synth is unreal. HLM has all the cool ideas and I’m psyched to hear where else they get taken.
CALVIN HARRIS & DISCIPLES - HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE (R3HAB REMIX)
After the Rapture’s "How Deep is Your Love," you’d think that another song with that same choral line would be damn near copyright infringement. Hell, calvin harris has so much money he’d probably just pay everyone off to pretend it didn’t happen. Fuck Calvin Harris. BUT, his BOY R3hab has got all the dutch house skills to pay the dutch house bills and of course he knocked the remix out of the ballpark. always does.
N.A.S.A. - IKO FEAT. LIZZO
A damn fun dance track from N.A.S.A. He’s been off scene for a while but comes back FULL fucking STEAM. He uses Minneapois rapper Lizzo to the best of her ability, while sampling the shit out of the 60’s track Iko Iko and turning this into a dance floor heater unlike anything else out there. Glad to see N.A.S.A. back.
THANKS A BRUNCH!
About Kurt Kroeber
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
