FYEO reminds us to be strong even when you're feeling weak with the dreamy synth pop of "Tigress."

"Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think," says Christopher Robin to Winnie The Pooh in one of A. A. Milne's classic tales of the Hundred Acre Woods. Winnie The Pooh was no doubt experiencing one of his moments of self-doubt. As usual, Pooh-bear is his own worst enemy. He's mightier than he is, with a large heart (and stomach), an active conscious, and so much love for his friends.

Winnie The Pooh always ends up doing the right thing, no matter his reservations, usually with a little help from his friends.

"Tigress" from up-and-coming synth-pop duo FYEO is a similar loving testament to the cheerleaders in our lives, those who lift us up when we're feeling down. As the band themselves describe their new single, "Tigress is FYEO's second single and is about that someone that reminds you to be strong, when shit is as wack as it is, reminds you to be a Tigress."

"Tigress" similarly explores shadows and light, blending warm, moody ambiance and chilly beats with bright, polished Pop production, a future funk bassline, and starshine synths. The whole affair is held together by the addictive vocals, clear, strong, sharp, and catchy as Sia Furler's finest moments. FYEO have a bit of a country twang to the vocals that make us miss when Taylor Swift still attempted to blend her Country girl persona with the mega-modern Pop phenomena she would become. "Tigress" also is in line with the synth-pop indie underground, as well. The plastic bassline brings to mind the cityfunk of recent M83 and the whole proceedings have a similar shine to revisionist history of The Chromatics, best known as the perennial bar band in the recent series of Twin Peaks.

There's also a similar sheen to Lorde, as well - it's easy to imagine "Tigress" alongside "Royals" on some uplifting playlist for when you're feeling bummed and need to break out of a funk.

FYEO are a very new band, with "Tigress" as only their second single,  they've only started showing up on Spotify playlists. They're incredibly grateful and gracious for their continual ascent. It's a stunning trajectory to watch. It's beyond impressive that "Tigress", with its bright, wide-open, crystal-clear production and solid Pop songwriting is only FYEO's second single. We Are: The Guard are predicting great things for this rising synth-pop duo. Add 'em to your motivational playlist for those moments when you need a cheerleader in your corner.
