It's been a hot, hot, hot summer for albums, and you have to hand it to Travis Scott, he certainly rounded things off in style last week with ASTROWORLD. No, really, it's not often that a record comes along that features EVERY SINGLE ONE of my faves. Frank Ocean? Check! The Weeknd? Check! Tame Impala? Check! James Blake? Check! STEVIE F*CKING WONDER? CHECK, CHECK, CHECK! Kylie Jenner's baby daddy wasn't the only person to drop heat over the last seven days, however, as you're about to find out in this latest edition of We Are: The Guard's New Indie Music. Grab your headphones, then, as it's time for you to check out the following songs from Your Smith, HONNE, Superorganism, Jade Bird, Day Wave, and lots more!

-

YOUR SMITH – BAD HABIT

Having channeled her inner Sheryl Crow on her debut single “The Spot,” Your Smith is stealing our hearts all over again with the follow-up. “This song was my white flag; the surrender to myself and my sound,” the Los Angeles singer-songwriter tells Billboard of “Bad Habit,” an oh-so-tender ballad that hears Your Smith declaring in the chorus: “I got a bad habit/Of smoking too much/Of drinking on stage/I got a bad habit/Of living rich/On minimum wage/I got a bad habit/But loving you/Is the worst one.”

HONNE (FEAT. ANNA OF THE NORTH) – FEELS SO GOOD

HONNE and Anna of the North?! DREAM COLLABORATION, MUCH?! This sumptuous new single to be unveiled from HONNE's forthcoming album Love Me / Love Me Not is all about embracing life's simple pleasures, so stop what you're doing for the next three-and-a-half minutes and prepare to indulge your senses in this delectable R&B waltz!

JUNGLE – HEAVY, CALIFORNIA

Jungle are back and here to boogie on this latest single to be unveiled from their forthcoming album For Ever! The London collective follow-up the release of “House in LA” and “Happy Man” with “Heavy, California,” a funky and falsetto-laden fantasia that'll have you beckoning the disco ball from the office ceiling this Monday morning!

PRECIOUS KID – WAS IT WORTH THE LOVE SONG

Precious Kid are bringing all of my 80s dreams to life in this video for “Was It Worth the Love Song.” With its VHS-like hues and use of Graeco-Roman architecture, this vaporwave-indebted clip makes for a perfect accompaniment to this Orange County duo's soft-focus sound, which falls somewhere between the new wave and post-punk movements.

DANNY L HARLE (FEAT. CLAIRO) – BLUE ANGEL (SUPERORGANISM REMIX)

Last time that we heard from Superorganism, they were busy putting their own bizarro spin on Gorillaz's “Humility,” and now the London collective are back with another maximalist remix of Danny L Harle's “Blue Angel.” Listen as Superorganism take the crystalline ballad and turn it into something entirely unrecognizable on this hyperactive reinvention, which follows on from Danny L Harle's remix of “Night Time” released earlier this year.

FRILLS – DRUNK GIRLS, DRUNK BOYS

Summer is very nearly at an end (85 days until Halloween!), but Frills are giving us one last anthem in the form of “Drunk Girls, Drunk Boys.” With its mixture of sing-along vocals and jangly guitars, this infectious indie bopper is most definitely up there with the similarly titled LCD Soundsystem song when it comes to getting the party started (and the alcohol flowing!).

THE BLANCOS (FEAT. JOYNER LUCAS) – WE'RE TIRED

The Blancos are speaking truth to power on their foot-stomping latest single. “I'm tired of being held down/And I'm tired of watching these people die/And we're tired of being let down/And we're tired of watching all people die,” positively howls frontman Cory Hueston on the Joyner Lucas-featuring “We're Tired,” an impassioned anthem for all of those who've had it up to HERE with our current administration.

JADE BIRD – UH HUH

DAMN! Jade Bird is kicking some SERIOUS ass on her new single! With a voice that invokes the spirit of Janis Joplin and Robert Plant, this 20-year-old powerhouse from London is taking absolutely NO prisoners on “Uh Huh,” a hard-rockingly timeless tale of tough love that follows on from her recent debut EP Something American!

DAY WAVE – STILL LET YOU DOWN

Day Wave isn't afraid to own his problems on his scintillating new single. “Honey, I'm running to hold you now/But I still let you down/Honey, I'll hold you now/But I still let you down,” sings the Oakland musician on “Still Let You Down,” a lo-fi ode to a failed relationship that has all of the urgency of a high-speed drive along the Pacific Coast.

VŌX – SWIM GOOD (FRANK OCEAN COVER)

Concluding with a truly haunting cover of Frank Ocean's “Swim Good” courtesy of We Are: The Guard favorite vōx. The Los Angeles artist succeeds in bringing a whole new perspective to the nostalgia,ULTRA. cut, with shivering trap hi-hats and very little else acting as a backdrop to vōx's signature vocoder vocals. “I feel the desperation of wanting to shed your past and be reborn,” writes vōx on Facebook of the deeply atmospheric cover. Listen.
