New Indie Finds: Miniature Tigers

5/25/12

Everyone here at LA Music Blog BitCandy knows miniature things are the best, and these Miniature Tigers are no exception!

After a stint opening for indie pop flavor of the moment Fun., they released their latest album, Mia Pharaoh, this past March. Miniature Tigers is a cute band name, but Mia Pharaoh is an even cuter album name! Is there such a thing as cute overload? I don’t think so. The best part — each track on their website is accompanied by a cutesy line-drawing and the lyrics. Their overall aesthetic is pleasing to me!

The first song, “Sex on the Regular,” is all falsetto, chillwave-y synths, and Like A Virgin-y lyrics. The bass line reminds me a bit of “Don’t Fuck With My Money” by fellow synth-y animal band, Penguin Prison.

Even indie rockers and Miniature Tigers get their hearts broken too, I suppose. “Sex on the Regular” is all new love goo-iness, and this track, “Easy As All That” is the ode to the chick who got away. Not as much falsetto as I would like in this one, but I’d prefer everything to be sung in falsetto.

And for extra credit, “Boomerang” has real instruments, not just synths! I can dig it. And so should you! This Miniature Tigers track is a little more disco, and a little less chillwave.

They also have a very cute yet really rad website here ya gotta check out www.miniaturetigers.com.  So, Y’all better have enjoyed our new find Miniature Tigers here at LA Music Blog BitCandy! (Or at least gotten your daily fill of cutes.) And if not, we don’t want to hear about it.
