Eurythmics: Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)

4/10/12

2957 remixes, 3978 mash ups and 1 forgettable Marilyn Manson cover later, and STILL nothing scratches the original "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)."

This was the title-track to Eurythmics' 1983 sophomore album, Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). A #1 smash in the US – "Sweet Dreams" would later go on to be ranked at #356 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Here is a live version from the 1984 Grammy Awards, featuring Annie Lennox dressed up as her male persona. Yeah that's right, 30 fucking odd years ahead of you, Joe-GaGa-Calderone...

If only Dave Stewart stuck to writing cool shit like this, rather than venturing into the high end Dildo market. But at least our question has FINALLY been answered: it appears Sweet Dreams are made of "solid steel with a satin finish and a band of 28 diamonds."
