TOP DANCE MUSIC - WEEK 17
Welcome back, everyone! I know it's been two long weeks dancing in the Coachella desert. Getting weird in the do lab, getting ravey in the Sahara, getting emotional while some band you pretend you still like plays songs that you don't really care about any more and if you were really being honest that day you'd admit to yourself that real reason you're crying is because YOU changed. Well that being aside, I can entertain your incredibly pained Monday morning ears with some of the best tunes out there on the internet. We're gonna pump your earholes with so many different sounds and melodies and "instruments" that you'll feel like you're right there back at the festival. Maybe you are?
Wow! We got some NEW HOTNESS FROM Galantis, Worthy and TheFatRat. Hell all these songs are rad as hell. Don’t be silly, just listen to them all.
ZEDD - ADDICTED TO A MEMORY
Zedd’s got a whole new album full of pop EDM tunes about to drop and they’re trickling out one by one. Props to the dude for making surefire radio hits, but I definitely still miss my old Zeddy— the guy that made songs with balls. I wish I could blame his lack of sack on Selena Gomez, but unfortunately this has been happening since he got a taste of that Clarity money.
GALANTIS - PEANUT BUTTER JELLY
Pulled from Galantis’ Ultra Music Festival Set, Peanut Butter Jelly is the newest progressive banger from the guys. It sort of seems that these dudes can do no wrong right now. Big, beautiful, emotional tunes that fucking BANG and the kids can get down and fall in love to. These dudes ALSO have an album coming out. Peanut Butter Jelly is just a lil taste of what we got in store.
FLOSSTRADAMUS & GTA & LIL JON - PRISON RIOT
Flosstradamus had the coolest fucking stage set up at Coachella this year. It looked like a Middle Eastern military prison that the Flosstradamus boys took down in a Road Warrior dystopian future. Watching these dudes and they unique brand of hyphen as fuck trap, the whole set felt like a prison riot. I’m sure they’re standing behind this track like what. These dudes are LOUDLY taking over the world rn.
HORSE - THE FOG
I can’t say I’ve ever heard anything like this before. Beautiful piano melodies, swirling synths, deep bass wobble, high high hats. This track is something new— and new is ALWAYS good in our book.
THE M MACHINE - JUST LIKE (WORTHY'S SPACE CADET REMIX)
The M Machine’s original Just Like mix was such a departure for these dudes. No longer were M Machine interested in making haunting electro. They had moved on to the weirdest booty bass they could — bring in OG dirtybird Worthy for a remix and he’s going to make this track even weirder— let’s all be Space Cadets and trip out to this shit that’s all these guys want.
A-TRAK - IBANEZ FEAT. CORY ENEMY & NICO STADI (ARENA MIX)
Personally, not really digging A-Trak’s recent stab to be a MainStage cash grab electro house DJ. Once upon a time his massive songs were transcendent, but here it just seems like he’s throwing his name on tracks— trying to make all that money that his friends seem to be making nowadays— and I think the desperation shows.
Cool guitar licks tho.
ENKIDU - FALLING (ILLENIUM & SAID THE SKY REMIX)
Oooooh! Beautiful, deep liquid drum & bass. This shit is so deep it’s drum & bass you could nap to. Hold up. let me repeat that— DRUM & BASS YOU COULD NAP TO. I’ve never heard drum & bass so chill in my entire life— but that soothing voice and chill rhythm could lull you into a deep sleep on your couch, I know it could.
THEFATRAT - TIME LAPSE
Wow. That whistle tune is immediately recognizable— having absolutely never heard it, it’s already caught in my head — that’s a true musical honor. Surrounded by amazingly produced sounds that pop right out of my shitty computer speakers. This song is so much fun and I hope to hear anyone willing to take a chance play this video game wonderland played out.
TOWKIO - HEAVEN ONLY KNOWS (FT. CHANCE THE RAPPER, LIDO & ERYN ALLEN KANE)
Okay Towkio, color me interested— your first track is produced by Lido and features Chance the Rapper? What are you some kind of hiphop wizard that’s about to take over the world? With help from the best hiphop royalty right now, I feel like you legit as fuck. Lido’s beautiful future production and the best rapper on the game. SHIIIIT. This FIRE is gonna be on FIRE.
“This tracks already so hot, i’m glad you let me rap on that bitch.”
- Chance the Rapper
CARMADA - MAYBE (PEGBOARD NERDS REMIX)
After a disappointing drum&bass remix from Fred V & Grafix I’d thought that maybe you just couldn’t do this already awesome track any remix justice. But then Pegboard Nerds come in with their sounds straight from dubstep electro video games that don’t exist and make this one of the most fun remixes I’ve seen all year. Pegboard Nerds know what’s up. This song is a party. Let’s party.
Well it’s been a beautiful week with all your beautiful faces. JK, you’re ugly.
About Kurt Kroeber
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
