TOP DANCE MUSIC - WEEK 6 2015
Let’s get ready to party.com with all of your new (literally guaranteed) favorite EDM tunes. I promise that if you don’t love each one of these songs like the children you haven’t even had yet, you can get your money back. What money? Exactly. LOL. Tricked you. Tricked you into listening to quality dance music without even getting anything out of it except pure enjoyment. I’m a tricky dog. I hope you don’t resent me too much and the quality of the music stands for itself and we can continue to be friends for the rest of eternity.
We got so much good stuff for you this week, but very specifically we got huge new tracks from Spor, Tiesto, Haywyre, Le Youth, Zeds Dead(?) and Sam Feldt. Big week.
HITCHHIKER 히치하이커_11(ELEVEN) HITCHHIKER REMIX
The Koreans just took trap to level 17. Jesus Christ, everything about this video is absolutely beautiful. The song is absolutely mental. One of the heaviest bass/trap songs I’ve heard in a long while. This feels like something Main Course would put out — but its coming from Korea with one of the strangest music videos I’ve seen in a while makes it stand out special style. Just watch— it’s art.
TIESTO & MOTI - BLOW YOUR MIND
It seems as if every track Tiesto releases nowadays is a collaboration with MOTi. I think it’s time the two become a supergroup and start playing festivals together. Motiesto? Tiestmoti? Tomato?
RIOT - JAZZ CAT FUNK (NIGHT BANDIT REMIX)
Every once in a while a song in remix competition comes across your plate and you actually take notice. This Night Bandit Remix of Riot’s Jazz Cat Funk turns a pretty standard Glitch Hop track into something quite special. Great Dubstep sounds, Sick Disco Guitar licks, Funky Vibes and really cool ideas. This Night Bandit track is far more original than the original. Vote for the remix. Let’s blow this fool up together?
ZEDS DEAD & OLIVER HELDENS - YOU KNOW
Honest question. Are Zeds Dead even on this track? I thought these dudes were gonna come in and show that one he’s released so far. But nope, same old same old. #disappointing #zedsdeadisdead #hashtag
BALDUIN - WIMUDO
That saxophone instrument is so hot right now. Y’ll can thank Big Gigantic and Griz and Sam Feldt for everyone and their brother hopping on saxophone on every track whether it be chill or funk or dubstep or tropical — who cares as long as there is sax. Balduin got the sax going right but totally needs to up the rest of his production game.
HAYWYRE - INSIGHT
Do you remember when your smartest friends were talking about Flume and you weren’t paying attention? Yeah, well get on this train early. Haywyre is going to be something way special way fast. He’s already opened up for Gramatik’s last tour — but 2015 is the year he blows up on his own. Beautiful piano melodies and funky breaks. Remember his name now so you won’t be fooled again.
FIGURE - DESTINY AWAITS
Figure making some 8bit video game dubstep music. Stepping out of his realm of horrorstep and making it heavy for the video game kids instead. He says he has fun playing this out and I don’t fucking doubt it. This track is fun as fuck.
LE YOUTH - T O U C H
In the realm of dance music where Disclosure are the kings, there are many followers and they are all fucking dynamite. Bondax, Gorgon City, Rudimental all absolutely murdering their corners of the scene. Le Youth proves with each new track that he’s one to take seriously as well. Here he drops us with some Mary J. Blige vocals and we should be bowing down like Wayne & Garth: “we’re not worthy.”
SAM FELDT - SHOW ME LOVE
This is a game changer. Sam Feldt with a chill as fuck beautiful patient take on Robin's "Show Me Love." This Dude knows what’s up. Hook us in with one of the most beautiful vocal hooks in dance music and keep us there with your lush, bird chirping production. Every generation of dance music fans needs their version of "Show Me Love." I had the Steve Angello & Laidback Luke one. Today's kids have the Sam Feldt one— let’s see if Sam can get as big as Steve and Luke. Wouldn’t hate it.
THE PRODIGY - NASTY (SPOR REMIX)
The Prodigy’s new single, "Nasty"… actually kind of sucks. All the talk about coming back and breaking EDM and their first single sounds like old dudes that are out of touch not only with what sounds good but also how to produce full sounding tracks. But the REAL news is the return of Spor… Feed Me’s Drum & Bass alter ego. But hell, if it takes Prodigy coming back to get this Spor filthiness— then by all means.
THANKS FOR READING I HOPE THAT YOU ALSO READ A BOOK THIS WEEK AND NOT JUST THE INTERNET!
About Kurt Kroeber
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
