TOP ELECTRO HOUSE - WEEK 11 2015

3/9/15
Best of EDM & Electro

Now that it’s March and Ultra is right around the corner which means that WINTER IS OVER, SUMMER IS COMING and we’ve got weeks upon weeks upon months upon days of certifiable dance music bangers to look forward to. I know I focused on this last year as well, but that’s only because it’s REALLY REAL. November through February are the deadest months in EDM. Everyone is just going in the studio, prepping for the summer of new music and beach parties and Beatport #7’s. Why do you think we’ve been running so low on Tiesto songs? He’s prepping new music for Ultra, EDC, Tomorrowland / Tomorrowworld. Be excited! Great music is here to stay! At least for the next couple of months.

But we’re moving away from the world of the big names today. We’ve got some huge tracks from a batch of lesser known artists. Proud to bring you new music from Cryogenix, KDrew and Eyes Everywhere. I hope you like them and give them all MAJOR Soundcloud follows.

Oh yeah we also got shit from Nosaj Thing, Crookers and Anamanaguchi 'cause we roll like that.

FIGURE - CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (BL4CK OWLZ REMIX)

Bl4ck Owlz strip away Figure’s dubstep sounds but keep his horror movie motif ideas and turn Creature From the Black Lagoon into a fun jungle romp. Just the jungle where you’re walking through at night and stumble on the Black Lagoon and then the Creature comes out and eats your face off.

THE EDEN PROJECT - FUMES (MURTAGH REMIX)

Sure this song has some beautiful vocals, serenely sung with angelic melodies behind it— not that you’d know that if you were discouraged by the nasty, filthy bass at the beginning of this tune. Murtagh turns this track into some filthy complex dubstep before letting you get to the emotional side of things. You know, something that real dubstep ravers can relate to.

MOKOA FT. GUITK - I'M HERE (RADIO EDIT)

Beach house, different from tropical house. This shit, with its funky ass sax line, is meant for any old beach party. We’re not trying to chill out and get tropical. Nah, we’re trying to get UP on some sand, y’all.

KDREW, RICO & MIELLA - LET ME GO (VIP)

KDrew with the sick VIP of his track with Rico & Miella. The Progressive House chords hit harder, the Eric Prydz drums snap quicker. "Let Me Go" has a beautiful vocal hook that compliments another Mainstage monster from KDrew.

FREEDOM FRY - SHAKY GROUND (FEAST. REMIX)

Indie dance has been back thanks to RAC and it just keeps getting better and better thanks to the indie kinds being less afraid to produce their shit in Ableton or whatever. This beautiful indie rock track has all the love and heart needed to make girls sing and spin in the polo fields. Play this for your girl. I’m sure she’ll swoon. Na Na Na Hey Hey Na Na Na— it’s like Mumford & Sons rubbed off on music in a good way for once.

CRYOGENIX - FUCKING HUGE

Cryogenix aren’t fucking lying. This track is fucking huge. This is a fucking progressive house monster, with an epic fucking build an incredibly fucking memorable hook to keep the fucking kids bounce for fucking days. I fucking love swearing.

CROOKERS - STROKIN' (FEAT. TJR AND ANTWON)

Crookers drop a new album this week and it looks like the dude is reinventing his own wheel over and over again. Using TJR’s bounce samples and Antwon’s baller flow, Crookers is playing with a whole new type of bounce house. This dude never stops inventing, never stops thinking outside of the box. We cool for life, Phra.

NOSAJ THING - COLD STARES FT. CHANCE THE RAPPER & THE O'MY'S

So if Chance the Rapper is featured on a dance music track, you might as well just stop what you’re doing and listen to it. You know that he’s gonna bring some transcendent verse to something absolutely beautiful and stunning. The dude has an ear and knows how to rap over beautiful minimal and complex like the master of IDM glitch, Nosaj Thing. Glad to see Nosaj making new music. This dude deserves to be getting the respect that GLK and FlyLo do. Maybe this is the beginning.

EYES EVERYWHERE - BOOGIE MAN

Study Group is a new label launching out of New York run by Webster Hall’s BASEMENT resident DJ, Subset. His Freshman Orientation EP launches with six new future / weird as fuck trap and dark booty house tracks. Here Eyes Everywhere’s "Boogie Man" is a little bit of haunting horror themed booty house, meant to scare the panties off ladies while they shake their asses. Every track on this comp is bomb.com but this one is the standout for me. Eyes Everywhere has releases on Anabatic, Perfect Driver, Fools Gold and now Study Group. THOSE ARE ALL NAMES YOU SHOULD REMEMBER TO REMEMBER — 'cause they are all fucking awesome.

DAN DEACON - FEEL THE LIGHTNING (ANAMANAGUCHI REMIX)

I’m honestly not one bit surprised at the psychedelic beauty that is the cacophony of Anamanaguchi remixing Dan Deacon. When the two weirdest names in video game / 8-bit / lo-fi / party / dance music come together, it BETTER be weird as fuck. This is like Animal Collective with an injection of lollipop molly. Is this un-listenable? Is that the point? Is this a work of art deserving of a place in the Smithsonian? I don’t know. Why don’t you be the judge?

About Kurt Kroeber

From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
