TOP ELECTRO HOUSE - WEEK 16

4/14/15
festival

Yeah so this weekend was Coachella. Oh yeah? Coachella? Coachella Coachella Coachella. Totally, Coachella! You know I can’t believe it. I can hardly believe all the Coachella that ever Coachelled. You think that one year they’d just Coachella on us, but we’d be wrong. Can’t predict a Coachella this side of the Coachella sea you know what I mean? Coachella for you and Coachella for me and Coachella for the Internet— it’s been a really magical Coachella. See you next Coachellla.

New COOL RAD AWESOME new tunes from Kaskade, Dyro and Gramatik. Hope ya like em! :)

ROYKSOPP - I HAD THIS THING (SEBASTIEN REMIX)

Between Sebastian, Sebastian Ingrosso, Sebastien Leger and Sebastian the crab from The Little Mermaid there is hardly room in dance music for another seb. Whatever, fuck it, let’s make room for Sebastien as well, turning Royskopp’s already fantastic grooves into something deeper, a silky smooth emotional number.

THE PRODIGY - RHYTHM BOMB FEAT. FLUX PAVILION

The thing about this new Prodigy album is that the internet seems to be thinking it’s good when it isn’t really at all. The old men came in saying they were gonna blow the roof off of EDM, yet hardly made a dent. This collaboration with Flux Pavilion is certainly the most interesting of all the tunes we’ve heard so far— but with only a 30 second preview I don’t even know how you’d manage getting bored.

KASKADE - NEVER SLEEP ALONE

And on the eighth day Kaskade went future house and it was awesome.

DYRO - FOXTROT

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, for a dude that used to be one of Hardwell’s little cronies, Dyro has come a long fucking way. "Foxtrot," the new original from the WOLV label head, is unreal electro trap experimentation. This song is hard, it’s vicious and it’s a lot of fun. If there were more music being made like this we’d live in a world that was about 60-70% more interesting. FACT.

MOUNT & NICOLAS HAELG - SOMETHING GOOD

While the synth is reminiscent of Ten Walls’ playa-house monster "Walking With Elephants," MOUNT and Nicolas Haelg keep this deep house tune totally fresh with its garagey drums, subtle horns and a soulful croon of a vocal sample. Ain’t mad about it.

GRAMATIC - NATIVE SON FEAT. RAEKWON AND ORLANDO NAPIER

Guess we watched Gramatik premiere this absolutely gorgeous electro soul collaboration with electro soul crooner Orlando Napier and Wu-Tang legend Raekwon The Chef at Coachella this weekend. Of course that performance was stepped up a whole notch, with GIBBZ on guitar and Russ Liquid live on horns. Shit, I knew this song was magical when I heard it then (even if Raekwon was reading the lyrics off his cellphone), now I’m glad I get to this beautiful emotional neo-soul at home. Gramatik onto something special here.

STEVE AOKI FEAT. FALL OUT BOY - BACK TO EARTH (THE CHAINSMOKERS REMIX)

If you were to tell me that a song that features music from Steve Aoki, Fall Out Boy and the Chainsmokers was any good I’d be pretty positive you were lying. So I’m not gonna try either, you know?

FLOSSTRADAMUS - MOSH PIT (WILLY JOY REMIX)

Who knew that Mosh Pit could get any more hyphen? Well Willy Joy for one, throw some Nu-Metal Guitar behind it and then just go the buckest trap wild you can on the drop and throw in more air horns and trap screeches than a hunting expedition.

TOMMIE SUNSHINE & GLOWINTHEDARK FEAT. T3NBEARS - FRONT 2THA BACK (BELTEK REMIX)

This is some filthy electro. With the Acid Synths ramped up to eleven, this track is meant to hit you right in the nuts and not let go till the party’s over. Props to everyone involved on the team, Beltek is definitely a new hot name to pay attention to if this is up your musical alley.

BARNT - CHERRY RED (TALE OF US & RECONDITE REMIX)

Tale of Us and Recondite are part of a burgeoning new house and techno scene. After already conquering Ibiza these guys and their long, patient, drawn out, haunting sounds are just starting to break into America. Here, we’re treated to a some of the most patient builds I’ve ever heard. This shit brings me into a frenzy and then just leaves you there to chill. This shit is the future, and when it cracks, it CRACKS.

About Kurt Kroeber

From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
