TOP ELECTRO HOUSE - WEEK 9 2015
Welcome to another head banging, ear drum destroying, speaker rattling edition of the best new dance music this week! We scoured the internet to bring you the hottest EDM FIRE in the internet universe. Seriously, we’ve listened to every single track released in the past seven days and culled it down to ten absolute bangers full of the most appealing auditory pleasures. Get ready to have your earholes fucked and your brains orgasming. U ready 4 this jelly?
Pop in your headphones and turn your volume up to 3/4 of your own personal maximum. We’ve got bomb newness from Blonde, Dillon Francis and Galantis. Plus watch those videos from Tipper and Porter Robinson or you’re a coward.
R3HAB & SANDER VAN DOORN - PHOENIX
Two titans of Big Room coming together and collaborating on something incredibly strange. But I like both these names. R3hab and SVD have never compromised their sounds, always bringing original melodies to an otherwise trite genre. But here, they unleash Big Room Wobble on the world — and I don’t think the world is ready for it.
BLONDE - ALL CRIED OUT FEAT. ALEX NEWELL
Blonde just keeps proving themselves as one of the more consistent names in the game more and more with each track. "All Cried Out" is big beautiful disco and I wouldn’t ask for anything else from these dudes. It’s emotional with hard hitting major chords, beautiful vocals and mad funky danceable breaks. Keep releasing fire, Blonde, and I’ll keep posting it here.
GARETH EMERY - HURACAN
I don’t know much from Trance, but I do know the #trancefam #tracekidsofamerica love Gareth and his 138+ BPM trance. That being said, being COMPLETELY ignorant on the genre as a whole, I think this track is a lot of fun— it’s got a super melody, super interesting drums, and an Egyptian sounding synth that would make DJ Snake proud. Maybe I like Trance? What is happening?
KSHMR & DILLON FRANCIS - CLOUDS FEAT. BECKY G
While half the internet is screeching with excitement about Dillon Francis’ return to Moombahton, I find this track one of the most depressing i’ve ever heard. It’s the nail in the coffin for my fandom to what was once my favorite DJ. He’s recycling the same ideas and sounds here from his earlier moombah tracks and i just can’t get on this train anymore. The high school girls can have him.
“The best part about high school girls is I get older and they stay the same age.” - Dillon Francis Woodward.
Do kids even get that reference? See source photoshop above.
THE CRYSTAL METHOD - TRIP LIKE I DO
While I grew up with the Crystal Method / Filter collaboration “Can’t You Trip Like I Do,” I’d never heard the Crystal Method original. It’s sort of sad to see where these guys are at in 2015. All of the legends of their time are absolutely crushing it. Chemical Brothers, Moby, Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk, while The Crystal Method are playing to not sold out crowds at small venues in LA. That doesn’t belittle their accomplishments in the 90s though. Listen to this fire.
GALANTIS - GOLD DUST
May the saviors of progressive house continue their reign. Sit on golden thrones of fluffy progressive house chords and decree 128 BPM per minute. Emotions run high in this kingdom and all of the kids feel all of the feels. Keep doing what you’re doing, Galantis — it’s making the world a better place.
CHRIS MALINCHAK - HAPPINESS (SAJE REMIX)
It’s always interesting when people start doing a thing poorly. Here we get a glimpse into the patient future bass that made dudes like Flume superstars. Here Saje struggles with the genre on a remix that doesn’t benefit from the sounds they include on it. At least they’re barking up the right influence tree with Flume and Chris Malnichak, two of the best dudes out there. Whatever, I’ve heard other tracks from Saje that are super interesting. Keep doing the work— other tracks will work better.
PHISH - ROGGAE (KAMINANDA REMIX)
A PHISH remix? Yeah. Kaminanda turns the funky crunchy grooves of Phish into a downtempo funkfest. It’s sure to make you shake your ass while you’re in couch lock. This is also the best/only tribute I can possibly give to a fellow comedian / college alumni who passed away this week: your personal tour guide to the cosmos… Harris Wittels.
TIPPER - AMBIENT SET @ COSM - JAN 4, 2015
Okay, let’s get Trippy. Tipper performed this all original ambient set at Alex and Allyson Grey’s Chapel of Sacred Mirrors in upstate new york. His visual guy Jonathan Singer turned their very famous, very influential paintings into a real time visual manipulation that perfectly matches the drops and drops and cricks and creeks and magic of a tipper set. This is the trippiest thing you’ll see all year.
PORTER ROBINSON - WORLDS: THE MOVIE [F A N M A D E]
Hey, if you weren’t there and aren’t planning on going— maybe you should check out this fan edited performance from all different iPhones across America. Porter Robinson’s Worlds tour was magical — and this video captures the spirit, the vibe, the visuals and music perfectly. This is what it was like to be there— and everyone who went will get to live it again and again and again, sitting in their bedrooms dreaming of festival season.

About Kurt Kroeber
From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
