Wild Orchid - The Dark Days of Fergie

Before there was Fergie of Black Eyed Peas, there was Stacy Ferguson of Wild Orchid.

And who is this Wild Orchid you may ask?  Strangely and coincidentally about 307 Million Americans never got around to asking either.  But I can fill you in...This was the mega vocal group back in the mid 90s on RCA Records.  Yes, Wild Orchid were 3 stars (babes), yes they could sing...but hmmm "no" the songs were so not happening.

But alas I think $1 Million Dollars (allegedly) was spent on each album that (wow) peak singles got all the way to #63 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart!

Anyway, interesting to see the transition of Ferguson from Wild Orchid to Fergie the Superstar.   A little history...the A&R at RCA for Wild Orchid was Ron Fair, who ended up signing Christina Aguilera.  Afterwards .. he got a sweet gig at Geffen/Universal as Presdient...it was his idea to put Fergie in the Black Eyed Peas (which seems to be his only contribution there over the next 10 years)...except for that cover of "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" he asked Enrique to do allgedly...which was never released.

He's now married to Stefanie Ridel of Wild Orchid.  Ahh, the sweet major record label executive's life (except he just got booted from his gig).
