Steve Aoki - "My Backup is the Benihana Fortune"

Do you like fresh banging electro songs?  Do you mega dance floor anthems that define your 3 a.m. club experiences?  Do you love adventurous "next level" tracks and beats?

Well, Steve Aoki just releases his new album "Wonderland" On Ultra Records.

And you better keep looking.

(Officer BarBrady voice from South Park). "Nothing to see here people move along!"

Well that's not entirely true.  There is 1 major fucking awesome tunage here compliments of a frankenstein type collaboration with Steve Aoki, Redfoo from LMFAO, Nervo and Sky Ferreira (turns out someone is still interested in Sky...WOW, oh snap...the pre release i had had Sky Ferreira on it...but now she's not there.  Which proves my point in the first place.  No one cares about Sky Ferreira anymore).

Steve Aoki "Livin My Love" featuring Redfoo from LMFAO and Nervo

If this is the high point. Then we have to address a low point like Steve Aoki feat. Rivers Cuomo from Weezer's "Earthquakey People."

Steve Aoki - "Earthquakey People" feat Rivers Cuomo

Really?

Earthquakey People?!  WTF??!??!!!

I suppose Rivers had a day off when he wasn't destroying his indie cred working with Nickolodeon star Miranda Cosgrove...so he picked up this gig and put on a spacesuit.

Its not that this album isn't good or great. Its just ... Bro you're competing against some real renegade fuck your shit up producer / artists who ARE taking things to the next level: Skrillex, Dada Life, Porter Robinson, The M Machine come to mind as the new crew.

Maybe if Steve Aoki was disinherited from the Benihana fortune (umm, y'all know his dad is the Benihana dude, right?) he might have an "oh shit...I better up the ante on my beats" moment."

But judging by this album. He's still got millions coming his way (that he'll probably flip at the poker table..apparently the poker table is his one and only vice).  To me all of these tracks for the most part come close...but ultimately...not so much.

And p.s....your track "Steve Jobs" is definitely not a tribute to "think different."

Moral to the story.

Check out our favs from the new Steve Aoki album here...

"Emergency" Steve Aoki feat Lil Jon and Chiddy Bang

(hmm...really, people still care about Lil Jon?)  Still this is one of the hotter tracks on the record:

"Heartbreaker" Steve Aoki feat. Lovefoxxx

Don't play Poker with him.  He'll clean your ass out.
