The Horrors Visit The Recycle Bins...Again.

Despite having the new super major force, but still indie label XL Recordings behind them (did that sentence make sense...probably not...ok whatever), The Horrors delivered exactly what I expected.

Forgettable indie music.

With great songs on low supply and alternatively on high supply, a non evolving boring and whatever sound.

It's not that this album isn't good.  It's fine. Sure, it's good.  But that's the problem.  Most new major releases are pretty good.  But pretty good is absolutely the worst thing you want to be. Pretty good is a failure.  In other words, there's no statement made here at all.  There's no amazement on any level going on.

Ahh...but it seems I am in the minority...there seems to be something I'm missing.  Or maybe I'm just not in the obligatory band of reviewers that have to cater to label powerhouses.  For instance Zane Lowe is his Radio 1 show said the album was "the hottest record in the world."  Really???  Let's hear some more over the top praise...

Mike Diver of the BBC wrote, "There's no fault to be found with Skying – truly, every song here hits its mark... From the most incongruous of beginnings, The Horrors have become national treasures in waiting, and now possess the ability to realise any ambitions."

Jesus Christ!!...how's that for brown nose butt sniffing.  Give me a break...we really have the next Beatles here?  Or next Coldplay or Radiohead or whatever....no way.  Mike Diver...we'll keep watching...let us know when the Queen gives the Royal Degree of National Treasure.  Ridiculous.

It's not that I want to dis band...but guess what...they showed up with a highly mediocre album that everyone is jerking them off on...and thus they're here for the dissing.

That's right...for some reason there's some cred factor that surrounds this band.  But even in their own home country of the UK with all the critical praise over last 3 albums...they still can't barely get off the map in the album charts...except for this album that debuted at # 5 in UK.  Congrats guys on that...but without songs...it's like driving your car on fumes.  You can only go so far.

And your car might just stall out at a Recyclable Center.  And It's there you might see The Horrors looking through the bins.

C'mon XL Recordings...you're on a roll and the hottest label right now.  Give us something fascinating.
My favorite song from this "album."

The Horrors - "I Can See Through You"

I got the church key
Moving in the night
Don't you wish you could live this lie?

I couldn't talk about
Filling up with longing
Pale horse, green eyes

'Cause I can see through you and I don't get it
I can see through you and there's no way
I can see through you
I can see through
I can see through you and I don't get it
I can see through you and there's no way
I can see through you
I can see through
La la la la la

Some people see you
To me you're just see-through
No one remembers your name
No one tries
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/t/the_horrors/i_can_see_through_you.html ]
And let you step outside
In the fever of evening
No one remembers your name
No one tries

'Cause I can see through you and I don't get it
I can see through you and there's no way
I can see through you
I can see through
'Cause I can see through you and I don't get it
I can see through you and what you are
I can see through you
I can see through
La la la la la

'Cause I can see through you and I don't get it
I can see through you and there's no way
I can see through you
I can see through
'Cause I can see through you and I don't get it
I can see through you and there's no way
I can see through you
I can see through
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
