BEST ALT CHILL: DAEVA - DREAM

11/28/16

Brooklyn-based new artist Gigi Mead aka DAEVA describes herself as “local demon girl sings songs,” even though her track “Dream” sounds absolutely heavenly (I know, I know, that was cheesy). The track opens with glittering electronics and her light and airy vocals that add even more shimmer to the calming dream-pop track. “Don’t look back, don’t look back,” she croons over drum machine beats, spacey synths, and ethereal atmospherics that will keep you coming back for repeat listens.

DAEVA - DREAM

The lyrics are equally dreamy, which I guess is pretty fitting for a track called “Dream”:

Always always on my mind, It’s always seeping through me
Waiting waiting for my time, I’m waiting for a sign
Whisper whisper in my room, I’m walking under water
Nothing nothing in the dark, there’s nothing for us there

Don’t look back, don’t look back
Let it go, let it go
Don’t look back, don’t look back
Let it go, let it go

Slowly slowly touch your hair, she slowly looks up at me
Laughing laughing in my car, her laugh is crystal clear
Dreaming dreaming on my own, I’m dreaming of our future
Wishing wishing all alone, I’m wishing for my home

Don't look back, don’t look back
Let it go, let it go
Don't look back, don’t look back
Let it go, let it go

“Dream” is off of her new debut album, Beta Persei, and it’s out now!
