BEST ALTERNATIVE POP - WEEK 40 2014

10/1/14

Saying I am obsessed with indie pop music would be a huge understatement. This entire week has been so rewarding, and today we here at BitCandy bring you the best of what the internet has to offer. Let this be the one thing you don’t regret doing. Turn your speakers up loud and enjoy our latest segment featuring Alex Young, Tieks, and FMLYBND. You ready? Let’s go.

TIEKS - SING THAT SONG FEAT. CELESTE [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

London producer Tieks single Sing That Song has been on constant replay here in the bat cave. The video directed by Selina Milas was released a couple of weeks ago, and let me tell you, it will leave you swooning. The track is definitely one of my favorites this 4th quarter.

ALEX YOUNG - LNDNBRDGE / SXYBCK

Oh shit, two of the jams I would get down and dirty with are back and even better. Get ready because Alex Young’s remix is gonna leave you feeling hawt and bothered if you know what I mean. And much like sex, you are going to want more, a lot more.

FMLYBND - OUT OF TOUCH

Get ready for one hell of a smooth ride. The continued refinement in FMLYBND’s music has been mesmerizing. This gorgeous pop-synth mix takes you in a deep trip. It’s one of those feel good songs that could easily become a staple on everyone's playlist.

YOU + ME - BREAK THE CYCLE

One ridiculously well written song with two ridiculously talented musicians. I see this a triumphant move on P!nk’s part. Love it, adore it, ermergerhd!

ED SHEERAN - DON’T (NETSKY REMIX)

I was so not expecting this from Netsky, but I am so effing stoked he’s back with the sound that his followers love. Super fresh and classy. No drop needed on this one.

MATING RITUAL - TOXINS

Ryan Marshall Lawhon, former member of Pacific Air debuts two beautiful tracks that are instant hits here at the BitCandy headquarters. Right now I wish I were back in bed so I could freely submerge all my senses into this eargasmic track by indie solo artist Mating Ritual. Let’s hope Ryan sticks around because Toxins (featured above) and Game hint towards towards something very promising.

BEN HOWARD - HIDEAWAY

Ben Howard is a man who can do no wrong. He’s hella sexy and scruffy but....Ummm, derp, the fudge is up with this cover? Not something I want to hear coming out of Ben’s mouth. But I guess as an artist you have to be open to everything, right? A for effort.

WRIST - FATHER FT.  MAKONNEN & KEY! (NIRE REMIX)

The trippiest track of the week goes to the lovely New York producer Nire, who is seriously underrated. I don’t understand why her gritty remix has so few plays. It’s a fucking refreshing sound.

GRACE MITCHELL- BROKEN OVER YOU - HIPPIE SABOTAGE REMIX

Los Angeles duo Hippie Sabotage have a knack for churning out sexy ass remixes. Broken Over You is no exception. Their lo-fi style is pure money.

VERITE - ECHO (OFFICIAL AUDIO)

Finishing this post up with the latest from emerging artist, Vérité. Her latest effort, Echo, serves as another indicator that she on the fast lane to reaching stardom. Get familiar with her sound before she explodes and look out for Echo EP dropping on October 20th.

As always, it was a pleasure sharing some of our favorite indie gems. We’ll be back next week with more.

About Beca Arredondo

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
