MOGWAI – THE LORD IS OUT OF CONTROL – CURATOR BECA

Once upon a time, music videos made sense. Feel free to leave your interpretation in the comments, as I'm confused, and creeped out, too. That said, I dig the soundscapes being created on Rave Tapes.

JAMES VINCENT MCMORROW – RED DUST

Grab your tissues, as the totally bangable James Vincent McMorrow has unveiled yet another single from his upcoming sophomore album, Post Tropical. If you enjoyed “Cavalier,” you're in for a treat.

ALINA BARAZ & GALIMATIAS – PRETTY THOUGHTS

Fuck yeah, Cleveland's Alina Baraz and Denmark's Galimatias have joined beautiful forces again on “Pretty Thoughts.” I think this vocalist and producer should do an entire album together, just saying.

OLIVER TANK – STAY (FEAT. FAWN MYERS) – CURATOR DUFFSTER

Sydney moptop, Oliver Tank, is among my go to artists when my tits are in serious need of calming. Check out “Stay,” my favorite cut from his sophomore EP, Slow Motion Music, and feel the nip chill.

NICOLAS JAAR – OUR WORLD

Believe it or not, it has been 33 years since the shooting of John Lennon. In tribute, Nicolas Jaar has unveiled this evocative and creative mixtape. As a Lennon fan girl, this caused havoc with my feels.

GOLD PANDA – THE MOST LIVEABLE CITY

Thanks to Ghostly's ever incredible SoundCloud feed, I've spent my entire day reminiscing over this piece from Gold Panda Neon Bear. Half of Where You Live was kind of an underrated record, guys.

KODA – FALLING INTO BITTER ENDS (COMA REMIX) – CURATOR DUFFSTER

Looking over his most recent uploads, magical cyber faerie child, CoMa, is feeling reminiscent, too. This ghostly reinterpretation of his bro, Koda, is one of several older gems to return to SoundCloud.

BROKE FOR FREE – XXV – CURATOR BECA

Broke for Free is due to unveil a new EP, Petals, next year, and I, for one, can't wait. Tom Cascino is one of those rare producers who can make you feel so much within so few bars, as heard in “XXV.”

PROBLEMS – CAPTURE ME – CURATOR BECA

Problems hails from Adelaide, Australia. That's right, another Aussie bringing the nip chill. It must be all that sun, sea and Marmite. Raging stereotype aside, it's nice to hear the sitar being made sexy again.

ERIK HASSLE – TALK ABOUT IT (BASECAMP REMIX)

On Monday, I brought you Brooklyn duo, ASTR's version of Erik Hassle's “Talk About It.” Today, I bring you Nashville trio, Basecamp's reworking of arguably the most famous ginger in Scandinavia.

That's it for this week's top chill out music, everyone! If you've got what it takes to contribute to our weekly roundups, sign up to be a Curator. In the meantime, check out this advice from Nicolas Cage!

why don't you just calm down

About Jess Grant

When Jess Grant isn't writing on music, she can be found playing it – on her guitar, on her ukulele, and on her recently acquired mandolin. Playing it hideously, she ought to add. Jess also studies. She studies the English language, to be precise. Jess is currently on her way to a degree in the subject, and enjoys starting and never finishing novels, screenplays, and poetry in her spare time. She also likes dogs. Lots of dogs.
