BEST CHILL OUT MUSIC - WEEK 7 2014

2/16/14

Hey kids! It’s your captain speaking. Welcome to Planet Bitcandy where you get what you want like all damn week. Every damn week. So put on those comfy joggers and stylish onesies and get ready to chill the f*ck out. Like seriously. It's time for some cool vibes...so here we go.  [Awesome artwork by Carole Wilmet...check her out].

SBTRKT – HOLD THE LINE

Once you make it past that creepy radio presenter’s voice (Mrs. Doubtfire?! Is that you?), this new one by SBTRKT is seriously delicious. It’s got that hyper-space feel that keeps your mind in a state of bliss and wonder even after it’s ended. NICE ONE!

NEON CLOUD - 333

Trippy, ain’t it?! This track seems to evolve as your fascination grows. This is DEFINITELY one of those tracks that you should throw on after work and let all your messed-up problems float away. In fact, I feel happier already. Thank you, chill out music Gods!

SEA LION – SANNA’S SONG

It would seem that there is not much to this track by Swedish songbird Sea Lion, BUT IN FACT, it’s one of the boldest tracks I’ve heard on the mighty internet for quite some time now. You keep singing those sexy songs, gentle Sea Lion! Never stop.

NOVO AMOR – FROM GOLD

I LOVE THIS. Not all chill music is made using machines, and this is a ridiculously awesome example of that. It’s really quite difficult to make yourself stop listening to it. But then again, why not just listen to it all damn day?! You’ll feel like a whole new person. I (unofficially) guarantee it.

ONCE A TREE – LIGHT ME UP

That chorus is killer. It’s soft and energetic and sweet. Once A Tree can light me up anytime, anyplace. Oh yeah!

FRENCH HORN REBELLION & SAVOIR ADORE – THE FIRE (AUTOGRAF REMIX)

Who doesn’t like a bit of an Autograf remix on just about any day of the week?! I feel like you could totally dance to this or just have a nice, deep think. It’s up to you. Just remember one thing: enjoy yourself!

POLYPHONY – ADRIFT

Not sharing the About section of this video would just seem like a crime:

“Listening to this makes me feel like I am drowning in a deep, silent abyss but as that happens a hand reaches down and pull me out into euphoria.”

So true. So real. I guess in some way we’re all waiting for that hand to pull us out into euphoria. Maybe this track can be that hand for you today.

SOLOMON GREY – LAST CENTURY MAN

Try not to chill out to this new track by Solomon Grey. Try not to get swept away by the awesome visuals in the video. Too good, I tell you. TOO GOOD!

OFFTHESKY – LA BELLA DEA

This track is so fluid that I can feel it soaking through the floor. My busy mind finds those pulsing bits totally therapeutic. I think this would be a super cool indie film soundtrack for like, some intense scene. It’s got this sort of urban thing going for it that I just love.

NICOLE DOLLANGANGER – OBSERVATORY MANSIONS

Recognize those vintage clips? Me neither, but apparently they’re from the 1930’s movie, Freaks. This track has a pleasant, soft freaky side, don’t you think?! Something mysterious. Something I just want to grab but it keeps slipping through my hands, just like it should. This is my favorite track of the week and of course it was curated by our very own superstar, Duffy.

Now that you’re all chillin’ out, maxing, relaxing all cool, it’s time to face the world head on. Or just take a nap. Either way this was fun and I had a good time. If you had a good time, slap a comment below and explain your chill out sesh’ in big hipster words that I probably won’t understand, but I will reply with something possibly sexual. And if you didn’t have a good time, then maybe you should be the one choosing the playlists around here. No seriously! You can be. Just become a curator for Bitcandy. It’s a pretty cool job!

About Bianca Fernandes

Bianca Fernandes has an unfounded love for Taylor Swift and an unexplainable, burning hatred for Bob Dylan. In her opinion, that's the perfect combination to be a music reviewer. And she doesn't give an F about what you have to say about it. She writes for one person, and that's herself. Think grumpy cat with a weakness for music and watching Miley Cyrus twerk. But she does other things simply for cash, like social media, web content creation and some crazy blogging when necessary.
