BEST ELECTRO MUSIC - WEEK 12

3/22/16

Were you glued to your television/computer/phone watching the Ultra lifestream all weekend like I was? Sure it was 90% MainStage EDM, but don’t you have to know that stuff too so you can know what to avoid at Main Stages across America this season? Plus, some of it was pretty goddamn good (NINE Martin Garrix ID’s are you kitten me?). It was very difficult for me to pull myself away from the TV to write this for you, but you deserve it. I went with a decidedly different type of music, good news is that Ultra and Miami WMC is the START of festival season, so everybody is bringing it like it’s the first rave anyone has ever heard of.

New Tracks from Axwell, Boys Noize, Jack Beats. That’s like the holy trifecta of dudes who have been more than great for ten plus years. Legend status. Oh yeah, and other awesome music from other awesome artists.

CASSIUS - ACTION FT. CAT POWER & MIKE D

Oh man, hearing Mike D on a house track like this is a dream come true. Not to mention Cat Power’s beautiful voice on the hook, and wizards Cassius behind the scenes. This tune is so tropical it makes tropical house look like regular house, you know what I mean? Welcome to the most fun music video of 2016 so far. Play this at house parties, you’ll be the coolest dude in the joint (unless it’s weird for you to commander the tv / music like that).

HARDBALL & CRAIG DAVID - HOLD YOU BACK (LIVE FROM UMF 2016)

Just wait, this is the new Justin Bieber, Jack U Where are U Now. Funky future house grooves, give way to big bass-house drop. One— Hardwell has never made a track like this and he absolutely nailed the mix between dance music and pop music. This is gonna be so much of a #1 it’s not even funny. Oh yeah and it can’t hurt to have a dude as talented and sultry as Craig David absolutely murdering it for you.

BLEU CLAIR - THE TASTEMAKER

G House hip-hop groove with bass-house wobble crushing it and deep house samples to make it pretty and shit. This is a match made in heaven that heaven didn’t even know it could produce.

MICHAEL FEINER - MANTRA (AXWELL CUT)

Whoa Axwell, where the fuck did this track come from? Tropical hip-hop style beat out of nowhere from the king of emotive progressive house. unEXPECTED.

BOYS NOIZE - EUPHORIA

Sorry we’ve been posting new Boys Noize tracks every week pretty much, but also not sorry. Like I shouldn’t have to apologize just because one of the best artists of our generation is absolutely crushing it on every release, especially this subtle techno groover. What’s your problem? Why would you do that to me?

JACK BEATS - INTERMISSION

This track is fracking ‘uge. The bass-house wobbles on this track are next level. Like if you’re out and this song doesn’t make you get hype to all hell, you might actually be dead inside and have no soul. Are we dealing with a demon situation? I think even demons couldn’t help but party to this song.

KAYTRANADA - BUS RIDE (W/ KARRIEM RIGGINS & RIVER TIBER)

KayKay is always great at making relaxing hip-hop music that you can just vibe out and have a really good time to. Bus Ride w/ Karriem Riggins & River Tiber is a beautiful, melodious chill session with your best friends. Pass the j.

CRASH PARTY - TURN THE PARTY OUT

I’m a FUNK HEAD and that’s for sure. Every release on UK’s Ghetto Funk label is absolutely everything I love about funk. This shit is a fresh groove, with turntables scratching, horns and Chaka Khan sounding samples. This would make George Clinton proud, promise you that.

TOMMY TRASH - LUV U GIV (SHIFT K3Y REMIX)

It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything new from Shift K3y, but he drops on us with this Tommy Trash some absolutely fire future house. His basslines are fresh as hell, and I’m glad to here something as new and funky as this track. I don’t know if Shift K3y went away, or I just stopped paying attention, but either way, HE’S BACK!

KYGO & LABRINTH - FRAGILE

Okay so Kygo stopped making Tropical House and moved on to Emo. Cool?

**BONUS** MAKJ - DONALD TRUMP -  LIVE AT ULTRA 2016

PUSHING MY AGENDA, SO WHAT?

About Kurt Kroeber

From deep within the murky depths of the Los Angeles River emerged a creature: 50% raver, 50% comedian, 10% Robotcop. Kurt Kroeber doesn’t own a dog, operates Soundbleed (the world’s only dance party comedy talk show rave), and is down to party with you. Come up some time and say “Hey dude!” But definitely make sure to casually drop the secret Illuminati password.
