BEST INDIE POP: SIGRID - I DON'T WANT TO KNOW

4/6/18

Green eggs and ham and Jesus, welcome back to We Are: The Guard. For this episode, we take a trip to the Nordic Circle for Norwegian artist Sigrid and her newest release, “I Don't Want To Know.”

SIGRID - I DON'T WANT TO KNOW

Birthed from the electronic pop hotbed of Norway, Sigrid Raabe is having a budding career in an extremely saturated market. So, exactly how does she put herself ahead of the competition? The young dame, barely in her twenties with a face full of freckles, has already been a signed commodity since her seventeenth birthday. It wasn't until her single “Don't Kill My Vibe” that she garnered international acclaim. Already on her second release of March, “I Don't Want To Know” is the perfect appetizer.

Sharing the same name as one of the most solid tracks of the Fleetwood Mac library, “I Don't Want To Know,” there is no infamous guitar play. Rather, this refreshing song is where Sigrid's soon-to-be trademark vocal twang takes center stage. As the lyrics linger in your brain through the very accessible and catchy composition, Sigrid's newest track is a bittersweet story that you cannot help but call upon time and time again. I started the day off not liking it so much. By bedtime, she's gotten me hooked. Like some sort of black magic.
