BEST OF INDIE POP - WEEK 13

3/29/18

Hello fans, readers, and everyone else. I hate to cut my intro short but I’ve locked myself away from society and chugged some nyquil. The flu has gotten the best of me and while you enjoy this week’s human curated indie pop songs I’ll be snoozing my fever away. Enjoy the latest from E^st, Sigrid, MXMS, and more. I’ll be back with my normal self next week.

SIGRID - I DON’T WANT TO KNOW

On the heels of her last single release “Raw,” Sigrid us back with another beauty “I Don’t Want To Know,” and gives us listeners a look into a new angle of Sigrid’s creative style. The track is a according to the songstress is “reflecting on growing up, drawing inspiration from what we believe many young people experience.”

E^ST - BLOWJOB

Australian singer songwriter makes four-play beautifully heartbreaking in her latest track “Blowjob.” The lyrics and tone behind the song blow off whatever thought you may have intially had prior to giving it a listen. Regarding the song E^st mentions it’s “about two people getting themselves into the same situation for very different reasons, and hoping for different outcomes.”

MXMS - THE RUN

Ariel Levitan and Jeremy Dawson return with a sound you could get lost in for days. And in true MXMS fashion “The Run” instantly lures you in to their dark world where vices and internal struggles bleed out creating a sound that leaves a void and a need for more.

MR. POPULAR - PRICE IS RIGHT

The artist by the name of Mr. Popular made his debut in January of this year leaving me as well as others wondering who the freak he is. A catchy beat, some clever lyrics … obviously he knows what he’s doing. The little that I know is that the former producer now frontman of his own thing is set to release more material over the next couple of months.

MARIAN HILL - DIFFERENTLY

Marian Hill have been unleashing singles off their upcoming LP Unusual, and this week we’re offered a track that comes to us sounding like the advise we wish we would have been given after breaking up with a bea.

LOOTE - YOUR SIDE OF THE BED

We srsly can’t get enough of this pop gem from Loote, and now, we have a video to go along with the infectious melody and empowering message. Learning to do things solo rather than with an SO gets easier after a while, and Loote is here to make the process sound lighter.

NOTD - I WANNA KNOW FEAT. BEA MILLER

If you’re looking for uplifting electro pop music that gets your body moving, look no further than the latest offering from producer duo NOTD and Bea Miller. Sure, the lyrics may be somewhat sad, but there is something to be said for the bouncy beats.

TWIN SHADOWS - BRACE FEAT. RAINSFORD

Twin Shadow’s video for their single “Brace” is pretty much how these past two days have been for me. Restless, mild hallucinations minus the euphoria. “Brace” is taken from Twin Shadow upcoming album Caer, out April 27th.

Again my apologies, the meds are kicking in and I’m getting ready to travel off into another dimension. Enjoy and share the pop gems above … and wash, wash, wash your hands.

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
