9/5/18

The best songs in indie pop weekly column is back and ready to make your body move. Just last week we gave you ten songs to indulge your senses in and because of the positive feedback, we’re giving you ten more delicious tracks plus an additional playlist to keep your body, mind, and ears pleased. Friday will be here before you know it by the time you’re done listening through today’s featured artists. Enough of this intro, let’s get to the good stuff, here are this week’s best tracks featuring Alesso, CHINAH, Darwin Deez, and more.

THE STRUTS - BODY TALKS FT. KESHA

My friend Ray is right, Kesha does makes everything better. In the Struts’ revamped version of “Body Talks” the band enlisted the pop star to chime in with her sassy - bigger than life energy. Their colab turns an already stellar classic rock tune into a high octane anthem perfect for a big stage arena. “Body Talks” ft Kesha will be featured in The Struts upcoming sophomore LP Everybody Wants.

PNB ROCK - ABCD (FRIEND ZONE)

When PnB Rock came out with his own material under his own name the blogosphere lost ate it up and loved it. Nothing satisfies the ears more than the sweet crooning of a trap artist who can straight up sing and hold a beat. Though the “ABC (Friend Zone)” might resemble Post Malone’s “Physco,” I assure you that it stands it’s own ground of pure dopeness.

CHINAH - STRANGE IS BETTER

CHINAH hypnotizes listeners in their moody dark synth pop single “Strange Is Better.” One listen is enough to send chills down your spine. I’m sure all of us freaks listening to this piece will find lots of reasons to love this track. Wouldn’t you agree?

LSD - THUNDERCLOUDS (OFFICIAL VIDEO) FT SIA, DIPLO, LABRINTH

LSD, Sia, Diplo, and Labrinth should form a band already because together they created powerfully engaging music that you wish would never end. Like it’s song name, the video takes you on a magical journey through turbulent thunderclouds resulting in a happy ending with a loving message.

ALESSO - REMEDY

This is huge for us, like ginormous because Jake Torrey from our sister company co wrote this beautiful track that is trending at number 44 on YouTube. Totally boasting here! This is another big hit for producer Alesso who had major success in 2017. Enjoy the uplifting feel good “Remedy.”

BTS - IDOL

This post would not be complete without the addition of one of the biggest songs of the summer. The K Pop genre is hot, hot, hot, and BTS is at the forefront leading with four Hot 100 singles. You might as well join the craze because it’s here to stay.

SG LEWIS - HURTING FT ALUNAGEORGE

SG Lewis is here to satisfy those moments where you just want to let go and dance with his slinky smooth single “Hurting” featuring the sultry vocals of AlunaGeorge. SG Lewis keeps your blood pumping with a pulsating driving beat as AlunaGeorge lures you to the dance floor as she sings “I wanna bang you now / But I know it touches me / Those eyes that I tell to myself / Disguised then sending me to heaven.”

CALVIN HARRIS, SAM SMITH - PROMISES (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Sam Smith and Calvin Harris are spreading positivity to the queer community as well as the misfits in “Promises.” The video goes along with the song’s message of empowerment, freedom of expression, and love, and living the present moment at a maximum. Share this with someone who can use a bit of positivity.

DARWIN DEEZ - GETAWAY

It’s been a hot minute since we last featured Darwin Deez, but they’re back with their fourth EP 10 Songs That Happened When You Left Me With My Stupid Heart, featuring the single “Getaway.” Everything you loved about Darwin Deez is embodied in this single. It’s rock with dance elements that plays with your emotions. You can’t be completely happy without feeling some sort of sadness pulling at your heart.

MICHAEL BRUN, KAH-LO - SPICE

At the beginning of this post I promised you that today’s featured songs would make you dance, and Michael Brun and Kah-Lo deliver exactly that. Their collaboration brings the heat on “Spice.” Once you hit play their is not stopping your body from doing involuntarily moves. Turn this one up and let yourself go to the beat.

WIN TICKETS TO SEE PPL MVR, JESSE SAINT JOHN & MXMS (Contest on Hive.co)

Beca Arredondo is easily unamused with all things not related to her interests. On her good days you can catch her avoiding the California sun and glued to her Mac plotting the next big thing. If you happen to run into her on the street and notice her wearing headphones do NOT disturb her. She is not responsible for any possible damage. Aside from the above she's very sweet and perky and responds well to good music and food.
